I wouldn't, you should be able to get about $1,000 - $1,500 for your laptop, you could build a better computer with that.

What?  This isn't right at all.  A Skylake 970m model new should be like 1000.  This one is used.  You'll have a lot of trouble OP trying to sell it for well over 1000.  The GE series also don't hold value like say a GT72 might.

OP you may be able to sell it for around 1000 if you get lucky, but I wouldn't get too excited.

It's a good foundation.  The 970 is a lot faster than your laptop 970m and because it's a desktop you can always upgrade down the line.  Save up like 400 bucks and you could probably grab like a used 1080 or something.  The cpu is also good, you can upgrade to an i7 7700k if you ever needed but it should be fine for now.

In order to upgrade he would need to replace MoBo also, as he would be getting an B150 not Z170.

No he wouldn't.  GPU upgrading is fine.  The cpu would need a Z series if he wanted to overclock though yes.

Never spoke of the GPU, about the MoBo, no reason of getting a "K" without a "Z"

You said in order to upgrade.  My post before spoke about the 1080 and 7700k so I didn't know which you were referring to.  I agree though about a K series.

Your builds don't make sense. For 1200, you can get an i7 and 1070.

The machine I linked above has been built, so if you have any questions about the final product, please ask.

Well, thing is, you are using lower tier components. Not saying they're bad, but better quality = higher price.

Could you be more specific? Asside from the CPU cooler which I know is a budget option.

Also, I realized the price of the build has gone up since I purchased the build last month making it $1300

Yeah, with the EVO 212 you will get higher overclocking, no reason to get an unlocked i7 if you cheap out on the cooler and cant overclock. The RAM seems a bit questionable, I personally have never heard of that brand. PSU is 2nd Tier, you can check this list here for that:

Also, you're listing peripherals for $0, might confuse people thinking that they're included with the price.

Teir 2 isn't that bad. Easily fixable. So change the parts you deem necessary. I appreciate your feedback, I have given you my thoughts.
