Have I got a Fake Samsung SSD

Hey guys,

 

i'm building my first computer and ordered a Samsung 500gb 850 Evo from gearbest (link here).

 

It arrived yesterday and i think it could be fake becasue

-its didn't arrive in a proper box just and electro static bag

-it feels very tinny and not very premium (though this could just be inexperience as i havn't handled many SSDs in my life)

-it only weighs 41g and on the Samsung website they say it should weigh 54g max

 

Do you guys think it could be fake, or are there way for me emperically test if it is?

There should be a serial code you can use to register it with Samsung on their website.

You can validate your SSD with samsung magician if you want.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

install the Samsung Magician, if it's fake (and I seriously doubt it) the software won't recognize it

I'm kind of curious of what this looks like. Would you be willing to upload some photos?

Seems legit to me.... It looks similar to my Samsung SSD.....

My explanation for the packaging is that it might be an OEM drive and not a retail one....

Not all SSD's come in anti static packaging, because there is already anti static protection on the ssd.

Hm, that looks normal to me but you would know for sure when you install the Samsung software.

i do a lot of work with gearbest, so i got it sent at a cut price, dw usually is would get it from a local supplier where i can rely on a warrenty
