So im going to do an SLI build with two Titan XP's and i will need to split it up over the course of a couple of months and my question is, if i watercool one card and run the other card on air until my watercooling parts arrive, will that cause any problems? Anything to beware of when its in use?

Appreciate the feedback =)

The problem I had with one water and one air cooled card is the water cooled card always wanted to pull ahead and that caused problems. The cooler the card the more it wants to boost. My advice is buy the parts but don't install them. Install both blocks once you have them.

And plug the monitor into the bottom card while air cooled. It doesn't matter in SLI which has the monitor plugged into it, but the card with the monitor runs 5c hotter. And since the bottom card get's better air, that's the one you want to add the 5c to.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

If you water cool one Gtx Titan XP than that card would be less hot and the gpu would produce more frames than the one air cooled Gtx Titan XP.

Errm no, thats not how SLI works and that would only be the case if the air cooled card was thermal throttling, and it would be silly for nvidia to sell the only version of the Titan XP without proper cooling.

I think he just means one would boost higher due to the lower temps

The air cooler for the Gtx Titan XP's thermal throttle them.

BROI!!! xD Again with the advice on something you don't know.

I used a 980ti Hybrid and a Classified. Even with the custom PCB the Hybrid dragged the Classified along. EVGA sent 3 of them trying to fix the problem. Watercooling > Power Phases. The Hybrid responded quicker and kept it's boost under load better, even with the fan at 100% on the Classified.

You want both card water cooled to avoid a problem.

Sorry that post made no sense looking at it xD

I should've quoted with proper sentences instead of anglish to individual comments and thought about the 250w TDP.

I would leave both running on air since you dont want to setup the entire water loop and then have to undo it all when the second water block arrives

Highly agree with this.

Draining a water loop and redoing a loop can take a bit of time.  Best to wait till you have all the parts to build the loop with both GPUs.

Yeah my entire system that has two 980ti barely goes over 600w from the wall. Really the only problem I've ever had with multiple cards, and I've run both SLI and Crossfire. Is keeping them cool. Without liquid cooling it can be a pain.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
