Looking for a monitor to pair with a 1070 SC.

I plan on getting a 1070 SC in the near future as I am an avid PC gamer. Currently right now I'm using a Asus pa248q and while it is a beautiful IPS display, it is only 60hz. I want to experience true PC Gaming and be able to live on the edge with breathtaking visuals and rapid refresh rates. I honestly could care less for 4k so I don't need that. I really don't know much about G-Sync but if my fellow brethren of the PCMR believe that it is worth the price than I will look into it. Really I just would appreciate it if you guys could tell me the monitors that are great for 1080p gaming. I don't need the latest and most expensive monitors, I just want something that will work best with a  GTX 1070 with 1080p resolution in mind.

Thanks for any help !

Man if you've got a 1070 I'd be looking at 1440p.  What's your budget for the monitor?

Is 1440p that much of a difference? I need to do some more research on it I guess. Budget would probably be under $800 but if there is a case to be made for a more expensive monitor than I would be all ears.

@CoolMarquis97 I would go with either a 1080@144 ultrawide or 1440@144 16:9.

1440p is totally worth it imho. You get more screen space and the GTX 1070 would be perfect for it.

I'd go with this; 1440p 144hz IPS with G-Sync

http://pcpartpicker.com/product/XvfmP6/asus-monitor-pg279q

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

i7 8700K 4.8Ghz delidded / Corsair H100i V2 / Asus Strix Z370-F / G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200 / EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 / ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB & 250GB - Crucial MX300 M.2 525GB / Fractal Design Define S / Corsair K70 MX Reds / Logitech G502 / Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ohm

SMSL SD793II AMP/DAC - Schiit Magni 3 / PCPP

Old Rig

i5 2500k 4.5Ghz | Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P | Zotac GTX 980 AMP! Extreme | Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB 1866MHz

yes there is a difference. makes aliasing less of an issue, but it depends on the game.

Asus PG279Q like someone else mentioned

Acer Predator XB271HU

BenQ Zowie XL2730

Dell S2716DG / S2416DG

Asus Mg279Q (Freesync)

or an ultrawide 1440p

Wow ! Why is this one so cheap compared to the ROG Swift ? This seems perfect, are there any major cons that come with this monitor however?

sadly that guy is incorrect. it uses a TN panel. luckily if you calibrate it properly it'll turn out very well for a TN panel. it uses a good quality TN panel after all.

1440p 144hz g-sync is correct though. 165hz is overclocked.

there is also the S2716DG, the 27-inch variant

I thought it was to good to be true. But it is still a great deal even without the IPS panel for the price.
