1070 SLI or Single 1080

I already have 1 Gtx 1070 but im looking to keep a steady fps on my 144hz monitor whilst still running games on higher to ultra settings.

 

Im not sure whether to sell my current 1070 and invest in a 1080, or buy another 1070 and run it in SLI.

Honestly the single 1080 would be best way to go, however you already have a 1070, considering the loses of selling an used 1070 and the costs of a brand new 1080 you might be better off doing the SLI, provided that your PSU and Motherboard are up for the challenge.

1070 SLI will be faster in games that support it.  But not many games support SLI very well, so I'd still go for the single 1080.

i would go for the 1070 sli most big games support it and indie games will only use one card.

I'm not saying that big games won't support it, it's just that games are rarely well optimized for SLI.  And even if you do get your fully scaled performance, often times you get microstuttering.

AFAIK you can use Nvidia Inspector to turn on SLI for games that do not support it. but it may not scale well or work

definitely go single. unless you play a few games exclusively and they all support SLI

Plenty of games support sli. Do the research to find out what games you actually care about. 2 is better then one and there aren't any issues with sli.

There is no microstuttering in SLI, hasn't been for years. I run 2 980ti without a problem.
