Socket 1155/z77 upgrade to 1151/z270 Worth it ?

Ok so i was told to wait for this new generation of Cpu's

Now i know that if i had the last gen Cpu's it would be a pointless

to do this upgrade . Tho i have a really old set up: it's starting to show

it's age.

 

& lets face it a i5-3570k is how many gens behind ?

Anyway i have this:

Lga 1155 - i5-3570k

DDR 3 16gb ram 1600mhz

 

If i get this:

Lga 1151 - i5 7600K

DDR 4 16GB (2x8GB) 2666MHz

(for now) ill get the rest after.

 

Now with this said ive noticed it to be much more

cheaper this way instead of a X99 set up .But have heard

hardware tech Youtube channels say that if you have x99 the only difference

from x99 to z270 is not worth it what so ever.

 

So im in a bit of a pickle what to get. And i want to get a new

set up going as i said b4 this set up i have now is very slugish .

 

So some advice would be fantastic ,and thank you again. Kind regards.

x99 = $1,347

z270 = $783

Yes, it's worth it. But I'd say wait a month or so for the prices to drop a little closer to skylake and the z170 mobos. Also keep checking deals.

Effectively, only two generations. Do you use your computer for games? For a GTX 970 you won't notice a big difference. You could get a used i7-3770K for around $160 to breathe some more life into your system (and HT helps with frametime smoothness even if average framerate in games is not too much higher)

I would wait and see if a 6-core RyZen chip is affordable!

You won't see a huge difference in CPU performance unless you plan on overclocking quite a bit

I do plan on overclocking it quit a bit ,just to see it's limit .

ive got the i5-3570k oc'd to 4.8ghz tho now i can't hold it there any more so 4.6 is what it's @ now.

and games are only lasting for about 20mins or so then crash. unless i play something low intence on

the cpu . i just got the funny feeling the Caps on the MB are starting to die or something. Anyway.

 

Some of you are saying hold some are saying it's worth it ill see what more of you excellent forum members have to say .
