Well, this project is a mound of melted legos now....

So, I have a few mini-pcs lying around that have M-ITX motherboards inside of them, I also have a ton of lego. Now, add them together and what do you get? A lego rack! I will be using this to fold and maybe a file server.

 

This build log is going to be extremely ghetto, so yeah...

 

Specs:

Each mini-pc has:

  • 1ghz Intel based embedded CPU
  • 1gb 1333mhz ram.

Thats it.

What is the melting point of that plastic?  :lol:

 

edit i found out:

 

  • ABS maximum temperature is 80C (176F) and melt at 105C (221F)
  • Polycarbonate plastic used for transparent bricks melt at 267C (512.6F)

I use a board like that in my file server lol - nearly went for a lego chassis build for that since mini-ITX cases are generally a bit crap if all you want to get a lot of drives and a flex-ATX PSU in; even if you're content to use a 5.25" bay backplane.

Skip ahead a bit, I managed to get the second motherboard on. This motherboard is the same model as the first one but a bit different.

The last 3 are smaller so that is going to be a pain in the ass to get in.

 

Now, I am going out to watch a movie so the next update will be a bit late :P

Google used to have their case made out off lego. Thats why the colors used in the 'logo' are colors from lego bricks.

These boards require an external power source with a power adapter. A regular PSU won't work, obviously.
