Xbox One S stuttering

Beef Boss

While playing games on my Xbox One S I noticed how it sometimes just drops frames like... I don't know what. Could this be thermal related issues? I'm assuming so but I'd like to know if anyone else has this problem. Games do constantly get more and more graphic intense and having integrated graphics would lead to more bottle necking at the CPU. Any solutions? I'm definitely not going water cooling because I'm not a fan of water around electronics.

It's obvious. The Micro$hill cronies have failed you, and Gaben is signalling you to ascend to the PC Master Race.

(On another note, it could be heat. Try using a thermal probe to measure temperatures, and place it in a cool location, perhaps near a window for some fresh air.)

Water cooling... a console? Only Linus would do that! I don't know why it's stuttering so much, but you can't expect a solid 60 fps from ANY console in somewhat demanding games.

Make sure nothing is blocking the air intakes or outtakes and leave some space around it.

One of the unfortunate things about consoles is that you get what you get. No options.

And we've been seeing recently that games really can just run like shit on consoles (or rather worse than normal) because the developers couldn't care less.

What games are you having trouble with?

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.

Doom. Halo 5 I didn't have any problems. Doom does it every so often. Like it does it pretty bad.

i think its either overheating or bad frame pacing.

What makes you think having an integrated GPU would cause more bottlenecking at the CPU?

Anyway, it is either heat related, or working as intended. If you have it wedged into some space where it can't get a lot of air then try moving it to a more open area. If that doesn't help then chances are that's just how the game was made to run on the Xbone. A lot of games for it do drop frames, or fall well below 30 FPS from time to times. Not much you can do about it sadly.

Huh.

And according to DigitalFoundry, it has occasional skips and stutters due to saving and loading.

They also say is runs worse on the Xbox than on the PS4.

Seems like it's running exactly as its supposed to.

Doom.

Why in the name of all that is GabeN, would you play this on a console?

Why in the name of GabeN do you even own a console? They're complete and utter garbage.

Your only solution, is to buy or build a gaming PC. The console will always run like crap, that's how it's designed to run. It's designed to take as much of your money as possible, for as little in return as possible.

you get get a fan and point at the one s but the mounting system used is not standard, so getting a better fan is hard to do.

I assumed if an Xbox one can run it why couldn't a Xbox one s. Maybe I should stop assuming and leave the tech world. Get some sticks, rub them together, make a fire and roast some marshmallows. Live in a cave, and never touch a piece of technology ever again.

If you have your console tucked inside an entertainment console there are fan shrouds you can buy that are supposed to help let it breathe. Some games just run a little slow. I haven't played Doom on the Xbox, but my buddy has and he didn't have any issues with his Xbox.

They have their place. Designed to take as much of my money as possible? Funny, it was pretty cheap, as were the games...

I think it's personally cheaper to game on a console rather than a PC. You don't need to best and most expensive for console games, and PC games out preform the platform they're designed for. You see all these thousand dollar builds for gaming. And a $500 console is my way to go for gaming, no upgrades really and it lasts a few years. Compared to a PC you may have to upgrade your GPU multiple times throughout a year. Or get more ram.
