Practically all of the Mini ITX socket 1151 boards are Z170 chipsets only. So don't knock on people for getting a non-K processor with a Mini ITX Z170 board. :)

I'm digging my build though. Compact and has no issues with thermals.

EDIT: And then I see someone post an H110 board. Oh well. :P

At the time I was looking at LGA 1151 boards, they were all Z170.

Here- I think this is a much better build for the money. I even included a smaller SFX power supply to give you more building room and space for cooling. I also allowed for the option to upgrade to 32GB of RAM, although you'll probably never need that much.

That's a great recommendation. I don't know what sort of portability OP is looking for. An HTPC case will be thinner and easier to pack, but is still substantially larger overall than the Elite 110.

the Elite 110 is so freakin small you can't even fit most 470s into it. there's literally one, and it's $350.

idk

I'd get a mobo with Wifi

No need for water cooling, small coole like Noctua L9i or C7 would be nice

Why Z170 mobo? Why not get an unlocked chip already?

yeah forgot about that, i updated it to include wifi

  • Don't get a WD SSD. They're extremely slow.
  • There's no need for extra case fans.
  • The Seasonic G PSU is $30 cheaper and just as good.
  • That RAM is unnecessarily expensive.
  • The 6600 isn't worth it over the 6600k.

for all the people suggesting different cases and psu i specifically chose these because they are extremely light(case ways 5.9 lbs and psu weighs 3.9) and the reason i didn't get a k chip is because i couldn't find a motherboard that supported overclocking

I might swap out that massive SSD in favour of a 750GB or 525 GB MX300 and a 6700k instead. If a build is going to be overkill, it's going to be really overkill.

On second thought, a 6700k won't yield a significant improvement in gaming performance.

Agreed with everything but point two. Those CM Elite 110 cases are tiny. Like, the size of a toaster, only with a huge power supply in the middle of it. The GPU literally blocks an entire wall by itself--even a half-length ITX card--and still pukes hot air all over the case. Not many blowers are small enough to fit there, and the ones that are are typically older crap. The two 80mm exhaust fans are a welcome site, but it's at least as important to put a nice, high static-pressure 120mm fan in the front. An AIO might be overkill, but not by too much. Every bit of usable ventilation in that case is taken up by a power supply, a drive mount or a GPU.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
