Atari 2600 Emulator totally programmed inside Minecraft with no plugins or mods

marcgr

SethBling has programmed an emulator for the Atari 2600 VCS. Atari 2600 Emulator in Minecraft

He uses some two-thousand command blocks to emulate the processor, video card, video system and a few of the actual Atari VCS ROMs.

The Dirt blocks are the zeros and the Stone blocks are the ones. You can easily see how the memory is stored using all these Minecraft blocks.

The emulator uses a scanning electron beam line just like on a real television's cathode ray tube to draw the pixels as it moves.

Don't expect an amazing frame rate though. It's just sixty frames per four hours!

this is so stupid I love it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Swearing and lewd content is banned, they don't really bother if its an accidental and infrequent swear but they have banned players from attending events because they swore to much.

They had a blind Mario Maker kaizo race for 2 events on the run but after Sethblings dickbutt from SGDQ 2016 they turned down Mario Maker for AGDQ in January. No one has ever directly blamed him but its pretty widely felt that the reason MM was refused this time was because of his dickbutt level.

I know the MM guys are planning to submit again for SGDQ 2017 so I guess we will see if it gets accepted or not. I also know Carlsagan42 plans to submit as a runner instead of a creator which will be epic, Grand Poo Bear, Carlsagan42, Kronicsauce and Mitch flowerpower all racing together, its like a wet dream for anybody into Mario speed running and Kaizo, I really hope it gets accepted. There's even talk of Panga being involved, maybe as a level creator!!!!!

didn't bonesaw get banned in short because his jak and daxter run at sgdq was too god damn entertaining? Staff there was all hugs, acted like it was all cool when everyone was looking, then a while after the event they banned him.

Apparently Bonesaw was banned because he was given direction during his run that he ignored but I must stress that that's not official, neither GDQ nor Bonesaw have ever commented on the reasons behind his ban. Big John (GameJ06) was also banned from attending SGDQ 2016 but again no reason was ever made public however his ban was only for 1 event and is lifted now.

I totally get it though, they want to keep the event family friendly and suitable for minors which is why they're so strict about lewdness. Heck anybody aged 13 or over can attend as long as they're accompanied by an Adult.

i clicked on that expecting it to be cool but a big waste of time, but as soon as I saw how you could see the memory load in visually and edit it by placing blocks, I was like:
