Motherboard suggestions

I need an ATX motherboard that supports an LGA1151 socket and has 10 SATA ports. It would be nice if it had on-board video since this machine will just be used for a home server. The storage that I will be connecting includes 8 WD RED 3TB drives, and a 512GB SSD. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

why so many hdds

Id suggest a raid card.

what os.

you dont need a ssd for a home nas

how about something like this?http://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=C2750D4I#Specifications

8 hdds because I currently have about 3TB of video files and growing. Not all hdds are being used for home file storage. Only 2 will be used as a main dump for home storage and the others will set as mass storage for VMs.  I will be running Windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter.  The SSD will be hosting the OS for these VMs.  We use 4 Dell thin clients for various basic tasks around the home.  The board you mentioned does not have and LGA1151 socket.  As mentioned, this is a home server not just a NAS. Thanks!

  1. Use PCPartPicker, and its filters.
  2. Pick the one you like.
  3. Mission accomplished.

What cpu?

Do you need ECC?

For your use id probably go with a older dual 2011 or dual 1366 server.

I can't see a 1151 board that has 10 sata, but you can always use a raid card/hba.
