Just upgraded PC

I've recently upgraded my Mobo/cpu/ram My previous post can be found here.

Specs:

 

i7 6700k(4.5ghz) OC at the moment

Asus ROG Z170 Maximus VIII Hero

Corsair  Vengeance LPX 16 GB

 

Previous Spec:

 

2500k@4.3

NH D14

Asus p8p67

8gb Ripjaws

Evga 980ti Hybrid

Corsair hx 850

 

 

I've got the PC to boot to windows and do a quick OC first time! The only problem is I'm not seeing any real improvements in games(battlefield 1). Do I need to do a fresh install of Windows 10? When the PC first started up with the new hardware installed Windows updated something during start up. I can't remember what is was called but it was something like "updating or cleaning Drivers" with a percentage.  Once it finished Windows booted to desktop.

Probably because your old build wasn't that bad at all. Sure, 2500K is kind of old, but still gold, especially at that 4.3 GHz you had in there. Try testing your new ccomponents in some more CPU draining games, then you'll see difference :)

Thought Battlefield 1 was CPU draining!

I thought it was more GPU oriented, however I haven't tried the game myself yet, so don't quote me on that!

You will only really notice a difference in rendering task etc. unless your old cpu was really struggling in games which in all honesty prolly was doing "ok". Unsure though most likly you were expecting apples but got oranges. Either way its probably much better.

 

Id do a fresh install for sure though ?

no bf will kill cpus and gpus alike

Ok then, got it. I'll probably try BF1 at some point, last BF I played was BF3 actually, and I think BF1 will be a fun game to play casually when I want to rest after tryharding in CS:GO :)

my 970 with a 6600k at 4.2 pushes about 60-80 at 1440p

What hz is your monitor btw? I'm going to do a fresh install of windows 10 so will post tomorrow once I've tested BF1 again.

mine is normally a 60 but oced to 85

Looks like  clean install fixed it. 64 player ultra settings on 1440p haven't dropped under 100fps yet!
