BF1 Ultra 4k looks so wrong

pat182

So I have installed bf1, maxed out setting , 4k etc. is it just me or textures are horrible, i think they just put the console texture on pc with no improvement.

rust on guns look almost 2D with no detail, ground is rlly blurry . IMO look worst than BF4. Also its only using 4gb of vram on a gtx 1080, I would suppose to cap at least 5-6gb for a big game like that in 4k

normally i buy this game to play for its insane graphic quality but this 1 i think its not cutting it and all the shinny glowy stuff rlly dont compensate for it

Doesn't BF1 have some sort of dynamic resolution thing? So if you can't handle 4k it will downscale the resolution to match your hardware. Maybe you're not getting actual 4k.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Can't the 1080 just barely do 60fps on maxed out 4k BF1?

One thing that you might want to check is the in-game resolution scaling and make sure it's 1:1.

It's an optional setting IIRC.

From what I can tell the baseline textures are very similar to consoles as they are on PC.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

The game doesn't have very good graphics and is a very shallow game in my opinion. It doesn't feel like "battlefield"

playing R6 siege for a year, BF1 look like a downgrade. R6 have a 4K texture pack and its clearly superior in term of image quality. sadly i was hoping at this price, bf1 would impliment such texture

ill check tonight, maybe ive made a mistake somewhere

During the Beta it worked that way but for launch they made 100% be your native resolution.

No he is not. I understand completely where he is coming from. I play BF1 at 1440p and there are some textures (wood textures in 3rd mission of friends in high places for instance) that are clearly subpar. Not all, but some. I can kind of blot it out but once you get close to them, you see how blurry they are. Now, the game does not look bad, but some of the textures are 720p.

Main rig: Shockwave - MSI Z170 Gaming 7 MOBO, i7-6700k, 16GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, KFA2 GTX 980ti HOF, Corsair RM1000 PSU, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, WD 7200RPM 3TB, Corsair Air 540 White, ASUS P278Q 1440p 144Hz display.

There are some in MP too. Look for wooden structures. It might be an error in some textures being loaded since when bullets hit, the impact model is higher red than the textures. The game looks gorgeous thanks to the best lighting engine around and some excellent post processing effects but the textures sometimes look off.

o.O Texture sizes are usually given as 1K (1024x1024), 2K (2048x2048), 4K (4096x4096), and so forth. They are not 16:9, and they have no relationship to your monitor resolution aside from higher-PPI monitors perhaps making poorer quality textures more apparent.
