Posted October 18, 2016 HDMI sadly was there first and v1 was capable of 1080p 60, so the TV market took it and stuck with it. It would cost a lot more to switch their standard,
Posted October 19, 2016 TVs aren't designed to be used on PCs; they can, but that's not what they're built for the existing connectors on the TV are enough to handle the resolution and refresh rate they're built for have you seen a console or a set-top box with DP? Posted October 19, 2016 Why bother? Live tv is only 1080i and HDMI 2.0 can do 4k 60hz for streamed content while being backwards compatible with older devices.

Posted October 19, 2016 I know what the title of this thread is, but "DP" means something different to me.
Posted October 19, 2016 Probably has licencing issues with the standard. Plus HDMI become the defacto standard for TV's. Once a standard is in place its hard to change. I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
Posted October 19, 2016 HDMI beat DisplayPort by around six years in actually becoming a standard. Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!
