My PSU gave up on life, need advice on a new one

yannickverc

HeyGuys

So my PSU broke down yesterday. Had a CM G750M. Had it for 3 years or so I think and it gave up yesterday.

Now I'd like a new one but since I have little to no knowledge about PSU's I'd like to have your opinions.

Looking for a 1000W PSU 80% gold or plat.  (Gonna upgrade my PC with a 1080ti when it releases next year)

I don't wanna cheap out on my PSU anymore so there's not really a price limit :)

Thanks in advance!

get a EVGA SuperNova 650(or 750) G2, they are good quality and not super expensive and you really dont need 1000W

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Just to be sure. T1 = best and T7 = worst I suppose?

Yea I know the 1000W is a little overkill but I don't wanna go to close to the advertised watts. The 1080ti will surely suggest a 800W PSU or something.

a 750w is enough, no need for 1000w. i'd recommend a corsair RMX 750w for $100 only if you want to SLI. get an evga supernova g2 550w for $75 if you don't.

If you insist on significant overkill, then I'd suggest a Corsair RM850x. 850W is still overkill with any single graphics card, but at least it's less overkill than 1000W. And the RM850x is excellent and reasonably priced.

If you can step down to only a little overkill, a Seasonic G750 would be a good pick.

Not sure how I'm feeling about the RMx, Think I'm gonna go with the RMi from corsair.

RMi and RMx use the same basic design, the RMi just has Corsair Link support and a better fan.

Two Titan XPs are going to use roughly as much power in SLI as two 1080tis and the two use like 650W paired so expect one card to most certainly not need 1000W. If I were buying an X99 system with two 1080tis then I'd personally buy a 1000W PSU.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.
