What happened to Filco?

Austin Powers

Previously, I bought this keyboard for myself at a special price @ $110. Non-discount was $150 last time. Now I'm going to buy this as a birthday present for my brother.

Anyone can take a look at the current price tag and tell me why is it so expensive compared to the past price tag? My brother has made a decision not to change to other keyboard. But I can persuade him to change if following requirements come to his needs:

1, He's a nocturnal touch-typist player.

2. Numpad(he does a lot calculation on a calculator and got influenced doing calculation on a numpad)

3. Dislikes :

    a) To see legends in front of his eyes.

    B) Backlits.

    c) Macro.

    d) Large keyboard chassis that occupy the desk space.

    e) Fancy frills around the keyboard.

EDIT : He also dislikes glossy surface that get his hand and fingers stains all over them.

NCIX USA doesn't have full sized and TKL MJ2, but the Canadian site has them.....and at reasonable price to boot (compared to that Amazon one that is).

Filco is arguably better than Ducky in terms of build quality, they are the obvious choice if you want a non-backlit/LED and simple keyboard. I love mine, I have both the white and black case versions, I'd swapped the keycaps in this pic...

you could get a cheap full size board and some blank caps for less than the price of that filco. Even if it has a backlight you can turn those things off or if you are really hard core take the LEDs out and you will be none the wiser.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.
