DOMINATOR PLATINUM SPECIAL EDITION DDR4 Released

IcEWoLF

At a very low low low price of $300. $330 if you go with 4 sticks instead of 2.

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/landing/dominatorplatinumse

The blackout ones are the ones I want, but I cannot justify paying for these, just way too expensive and I already have the Corsair Vengeance Red LED ones which cost me $120 less.

Pay over $200 more for a slightly better looking heat spreader. #Corsair

I mean it looks amazing, but damn is it expensive.

EDIt: Its also weird, why is 4x8GB more expensive tha  2x16GB? the heatsinks cant possibly cost them that much.

Very nice but not worth the premium.

This, plus I am sure next year more cool looking ram will come out at a lower price point. Special edition ram to me is a bit worthless.

I just wish they put those heat spreaders on to the normal Dominator Platinums in Black and Silver rather than the limited Chrome and Blackout. If they do so, then I'm sold. Otherwise by the time I have enough money, the Special Edition RAM will be sold out, as they are limited edition and only 500 of both Chrome and Blackout are produced, which brings that number to 1,000 (or maybe 250 units of each color.)

I believe its 500 of each based on what they said on computex.

So that means 1,000 combined?

Also would you agree that the Dominator Platinum RAM could use an aesthetic overhaul to the Special Edition looks except in Black and Silver with Silver printing?

Well they revealed what they would have looked like at computex...

But yes, they should have gone with a different design altogether and maybe give the option to Rbg these ram stick so that way they would match with all build colors. I mean come on corsair you guys already making everything about RBG with every product y'all releasing.

Im happy that I went with the Vengeance LED red Rams at 3200 MHZ and despite me buying two separate kits 2 x 16 gb kits they work together fine, but some people noted they were not able to achieve 3200 MHz with two separate kits. Corsair support if you look at their ram forums has been abysmal. Bunch of dead kits or kits that just die after few days.

Since I bought two separate kits some of the kits the ram logo was on the opposite side... once again speaks volume about their quality control.

They spent 4 months developing this kit super cool looking instead of fixing the current issue with the current Vengeance ram.

As as of late I noticed corsair support going downhill and their replies to tickets getting slower and slower by the day.

My Vengeance LPX RAM is still going good. But yes, it is never a good idea to buy separate kits of RAM, as it can cause problems in terms of overclocking or enabling XMP, or worse, the motherboard won't like two separate kits of RAM and actually refuse to boot, which happened to Daniel Cannon from Singularity Computers on Client Build 12. The client requested that he install an ASRock X79 Extreme11, which didn't like separate kits of RAM, even if they're the same RAM, same size, same speed, same timings, same everything.

Me personally, I always like to have a clean-looking build rather than trying to go over-the-top. But everyone has a different taste in aesthetics. If I have enough money to actually have him cut out some custom heatspreaders to match the SE aesthetics, but also put on there the Singularity Computers logo and company name to indicate that they were custom-made. That's if Corsair refuses to update their Dominator Platinum RAM.
