So I just got my rig all upgraded and I wanted to OC my 6700K. I have the Asus impact viii and I used its auto OC feature which put the 6700k at a 15% OC. I booted into windows and did some tests on prime95 and the results where interesting. The cpu was sitting at 1.6 Volts flat at 35C, Nothing higher and nothing lower. I shut off the test because 1.6V is way to high. Why does the automatic OC feature want to burn up my brand new cpu lol? Is there a setting i'm missing?

(Just writing this my cpu was sitting at 1.4 Volts. I want to OC but i don't want to fry my cpu. What should I do?)

Do it manually. JayzTwoCents and LTT have videos on how to do so. Also be sure to play a stressful game as part of your process.

only did it cause it was an old build. bought a new on and just wanted to see lol.

i should have made a video to post on all of the " used the auto oc'er on my mobo " posts.

Had an old Asrock board (Sandy Bridge) that underclocked my multiplier and raised my voltage. Funniest performance improvement I've seen.

LOL

its fun taking old stuff and doing shit like that. the stuff you're not supposed to do , and then get to see why.

there's been a few posts like " I raised my voltage to 1.399 cause that's the max that im allowed. so should I just raise my multiplier now to see how high it will go ? "
