Case is blocking rear exhaust of blower GPU. Cut?

Hello,

I need your advice. Should I cut out the metal piece which is blocking rear exhaust?

GPU is MSI GTX 1070 AERO 8G.

Thanks for replies :)

if its a case you really dont mind doing a little mood to and your after max airflow just cut that bit of case out it does not hurt the case stability of the case

Thanks for replies,

GPU temperature goes above 80C when playing Dirt Rally.

I don't mind the case, so I'm going to cut it and check whether GPU temp droped, later today. :)

Don't ruin a perfectly good case unless you have to. the AERO has a kina shit cooler, so i expect it to get pretty hot, but I really don't think that the case is the problem. maybe try taking your MOBO out of your case and benchmarking it then to see if it's really an airflow restriction or not.

The problem is the blower cooler, not a tiny metal flange. Even if you drop 10 degrees, you'll still be running way hotter (and with that much less OC potential) than if you'd just spent the extra $30 on the GAMING version.

I'd cut it, aslong as its a blower card.

Hi! :)

Did you try cutting away the metal bar? Did you see any improvement in temps?

Thanks

Hey!
I didn't cut. GPU fan speed is always way less than 100%, which means GPU is working on its working temperature (84C).
Any way, I think I'll cut it for a test in future xD

Too much work, get a new gpu/case.

lol jk. Honestly though I for one am also curious if it does improve temps when you do cut it.

Hey bumping an old topic here but I just noticed this on my case and went ahead and cut it. When at 100% load at -200 core +775 mem @ 80% fan I went from 62C to 59C. So there was definitely a slight improvement. I'd recommend cutting it. Doesn't really serve a purpose and I'm always going to have a GPU filling that slot
