If you want something that last a really long time and is quiet, sure.

If those are the only choices, go with WD Red.

 

If there's more to choose from, go with HGST NAS drives.

Then no. WD Red drives are designed to work exceptionally well in NAS and RAID environments. For desktop and gaming PCs, you'd be better off going with a normal Seagate Barracuda, WD Blue or WD Black if you wanted to spend a little more. 

 

In desktop situations, WD Reds don't really have any benefit over WD Blue drives. Nothing worth paying for, at least.
