First gaming PC build, would this be an optimal build for 1080p/60fps ?

knkritpillw

I'm planning to build my first gaming PC, and I am hoping to play at 1080p, high settings, and 60 fps. I opted for the GTX 1060 because I also need to factor in the cost of the OS and peripherals. I'd appreciate any advice as to how to optimize the price/performance ratio.

I do not intend to overclock so I have not gone for the k variant of the processor, or the overclock compatible motherboard.

I might upgrade the graphics card a year or two down the line.

Alright, thanks! Is kinguin one of those grey market dealers? I'd like to be all above board as much as possible.

EDIT: You mentioned a better monitor, could you suggest some options?

Oh, I thought a stock cooling fan would come standard with these processors. I'm buying from a brick and mortar store so verifying that should not be a problem. I'd also need thermal paste if I get the 212 Evo, right?

All good, no issues with it. As @SeraphicWings suggested, you can get windows keys of kinguin for cheap.

Well think of it as a forum where people trade digital stuffs (mostly game keys and game items), so the price is much cheaper than buying from a store

I bought a Windows 7 key there and it worked like a charm while saving myself nearly $50, though you need to look for the most trusted dealer and also buy a protection as well

You dont need an aftermarket cooler if not overclocking. Although the Intel stock cooler is crap, its fine if you dont plan to OC. Coolers also come with thermal paste.

Alright, thanks!

My thought process with going for the 1060 instead of the RX480 was that I can swap out the 1060 in the future with another graphics card (something like a 1070 equivalent of the future), rather than going with the upgrade path of buying a second RX480 for crossfire. Even though the RX480 has a slight advantage in terms of Vulkan or DX12 performance, I feel like that will be evened out in the next couple of years.

The 1060 isnt that far behind the 480 in DX12 and most games will still be on DX11 for the next few years.

Alright. My only question now is the choice of monitor, and whether the current build will be able to run games smoothly on high settings if I decide to go for a multi-monitor 1080p setup in the future.

2 might still be ok for high-max settings. If you are doing 3 and want to max out games, I would get a 1070 (3 monitors will be ok if you turn settings down a little on a 1060).

Actually, the 6500 does come with a stock cooler.
