5 years later, the GTX 980 / 980 Ti / Titan X came out (2014).

...like nobody uses a GTX 200 series graphics card anymore...it won't even meet MINIMUM requirements for games that came out in 2015 / 2016.

I guess u make sense.

The Tesla cards will have HB2 well probably just the Titan will. Also it will be a new architecture so I would wait for Tesla or Vega

...like nobody uses a GTX 200 series graphics card anymore...it won't even meet MINIMUM requirements for games that came out in 2015 / 2016.

but think about it this way, most people still game on 1080 right, that means it would take years before 4k gaming at 120 fps becomes common

1920x1080 has been around way before 2009.

What I'm trying to say is that games and programs will become more and more demanding -- even if it's still 1080p 5 years later.

5 years from now...say BF6...your GTX 1080 in SLI might only be able to run the game on Medium or Low settings.

 

There is no way to "futureproof" something for that long -- especially with modern technology changing and improving every 6 months ~ 1 year.

Realistically, you are looking at 2 or 3 years.

 

Heck, my brother's iPhone 4S isn't even powerful enough to run Pokemon GO smoothly, where it is nothing for his new S7.
