You're gonna wait a long time unless you manually update.

Yes but it's a rollout. Not everybody gets it straight away. Most people haven't received it yet.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

unless you manually scan for the update in windows update (even if you do it is still a slow pain), it tends to take forever to do it by itself. its easier and faster to do it though the MS site's Windows 10 Updater app... still make sure you want it, all my systems were updated and a lot have problems that are still waiting for patches to fix them. Also if you have them, you'll have to reinstall Nvidia drivers because they get partially corrupted.

How do you check if you have the anniversary update installed?

I re downloaded a fresh USB installation media and installed that to both my PCs, and it seems to be different to original Windows 10, and windows update says Im up to date so I should have it.

Download that and run, if you have it, it will tell you something like "Thank you for updating to the latest version yada yada yada" and won't do anything. If you don't it'll start the process.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

I would update using the download from the links in this thread but make sure not to remove the previous version of windows recovery, I've had quite a few issues since I updated to the anniversary update so just be cautious.

I have had no issues with Nvidia drivers with the 960m in my XPS 15. I was running and am still running the game ready driver for Doom (the newest game I own).

My computer tried to auto update a couple of times but the computer's frozen during the update process both times and now it won't even try and download the anniversary update which is annoying.  I don't even understand why its not freezing during the update process since my computer works completely fine otherwise.  Even the errors its giving me when it crashes during the update process doesn't make much sense since they're inconstant.  I'm thinking I'm gonna be stuck on the 1511 version for a while ><.  and also with hearing the issues that people are having with the update I'm almost wondering if its better I'm 'stuck' on the version right before Anniversary, I did get a security update even after the anniversary update launched.

When I say partially corrupted, the display drivers still work (sorta) fine until you start doing something heavily intensive like Folding @ Home...  The program will crash out complaining that there is missing files...  they're missing video driver files,  And when the drivers are reinstalled there's no more problems. All of my computers run Nvidia GPUs (4 desktop, 2 laptop), and all of them had the same problem.  In fact one of them had the display driver crash a few times, until I reinstalled.  It doesn't hurt to reinstall the drivers anyway

It must not be something that is common in a gaming load. I don't do Folding @ Home as I don't like the idea of placing a constant load like that onto a laptop.

Yeah a laptop is a bad idea, I learned that the hard way… And I had sufficient cooling ...  nearly melted my GPU  after a week of folding,  first the drivers started crashing, and then my WUs started failing and then the video  started messing up.  I quit folding on it.  And it went back to normal for the most part.  I don't think I can put a very high stress on it again though.
