Buying second hand GPU, is it worth it?

Hey, first of all I'd like to thank you for reading my topic.

A local seller has a GeForce GTX 760 4GB 4096MB over clock version from gigabyte for 130e

my main concern is... Will this GPU still perform well in newer and future titles with an enjoyable experience? (Medium/high)

...or, should I pay a bit more for a later GPU? If so please give me some suggestions I have a top end budget for 200e

Likely not. My GTX 760 struggled heavily in DOOM and Crysis 3. So no it will not perform well in newer titles nor upcoming AAA titles yet to be release. You should try and invest in a RX 460 or 470 for better game play at current settings and levels.

130€ for that card? not thanks.

Is it worth buying 2nd hand cards? Well I always had bad experiences with buying used hardware. But on the other hand I sell my hardware all the time, and whatever I sell it works perfectly fine. So if you find some seller like me, it would be golden for you.

For 200€ I would suggest you GTX 1060 3GB version or RX 480.

i had seen the Msi gtx 960 for about 170e which seems good

ill start looking into the 1060 now

I would buy second had, I already have several times. Never regretted it. I wouldn't buy it if the price isn't fair based on the performance of the card though.

So.... After doing the and seeing what's available in the area I've boiled it down to gtx 950 2gb and the rx 460 4gb both roughly around 160e mark pretty much on par with each other.

From my understand the rx 460 is a new GPU which would mean the bios may not be released which would mean there may be a slight improvement on performance? Only assuming.

I would not recommend getting a Card with only 2GB of VRam. And you might be able to find a cheaper 700 series card as well. The prices should've dropped even more, since the new generation of GPUs have been released. a 770 performs on par with a GTX 960, so getting the 950 for 160 is way too much.
Then you should rather get the 960 for 170€ (which I consider too much already ...)  since you can get a 780 for that price.

Why not save 15 more dollars and look at a RX 470 Red Devil 4GB? Its max boost puts it pretty neck and neck to a 780 Ti

I wouldn't buy second hand unless you have seen it's benchmarking tests (make sure it's still in great condition).

i try really hard not to buy brand new gpu's because really you are just throwing money down a drain as the depreciation in the first year is normally 40-50% so if you buy say a 1080 for £600 next year if you sold it after new cards had come out it might be worth £300-£350 so you've lost £250-300. a 980Ti can be had for £280 to £320 used. say next year its lost 50% of its value. you have lost £150 whichis 1/2 as much as a gtx1080, but obvious it uses more power, but is it really going to cost £150 in power....... nope.

It depends. With ebay, it's hard to get scammed, because you get your money back if the product you got wasn't it, no matter what the seller does to prevent it. But on craigslist, you probably will have them untested. If you pay for it without testing, and it doesn't work, you can't get your money back.

Well i for one will never buy used hardware again. They usually come with one shortcoming or another. The 390 is got in part payment for some hardware i sold, has to run about 5% lower than manufacturers settings to run completely stable. If i run it at stock settings, it will crash once or twice a day, and if i do a modest 3-4% overclock is will crash every other hour. Sometimes regardless of load, and i run a platinum Corsair (Seasonic made) PSU.

There is also the issue of warranty. Basically, only EVGA offers good enough warranty for buying second hand. So if it is any other brand, i wouldn't do it. The price is also very poor. I would pay 60 at most for an EVGA card, and 40 would be a stretch for a Gigabyte card. The 760 is simply too old.
