i5-6500 a bottleneck

Will the i5-6500 paired with 2xRx 480 8gb be a bottleneck at 4k? Will i need to overclock it, as i will be to at least 4 ghz (as that was my old oc). 

 

 

Games: basically all (not really stuck to 1 or 2 types of games)

At 4k the bottleneck wouldn't really be noticeable especially if the cpu is overclocked. Personally however I wouldn't get 2 rx 480's due to scaling issues etc

It probably will get a it 6600k with a cpu cooler or a xeon e3 1231 v3 if you want to save some cash

It will bottleneck in some games most likely, notably GTA 5 causes the GPU utilization to drop under 100% with i5 pairings on higher end gpus (this is equivalent) however it won't really matter too much though I advise against xfire and sli unless it is the highest end cards due to bad support by devs

THe pc it will be upgrading is 6 months old. I will be upgrading on black friday

i5-6500 cannot be OCed so easily but it can be BLCK OCed, that is the only option because the multiplier is locked... (but even at stock you will be fine in 90% of games so do not worry)

A single 1080 might be more expensive but less intensive on CPU than Crossfire so there's less of a bottleneck there I'd recommend a single 1070 or 1080 vs dual 480x

BLCK OCing is an option and some mobas can OC the chip, though I don't advise people get them

Love or hate should not be part of your decision making if you want to get the most out of your money. For example given those circumstances you really have 2 options: Fury X or waiting for Vega.

 

At least waiting for Vega can potentially give you a nice outcome but even the Fury X will be match evenly with the 1070 but still at a disadvantage with feature parity and vram amount.

Yes I jus dont wanna go nvidia cause i want a sync (g-sync is expesive) my mobo does not have sli. I want my cards to be future proof (what has happened to maxwell and kepler) and i wanna get that fps boost int he next gen titles in the coming years. that $500 investment is big for me

Nope, its an i5, and a good one too, the major bottleneck will be your GPU's of course because 4k res.

Eventually AMD will update their drivers to optimize for crossfire in new games. The GTX 1080 is having similar trouble because of software optimization.

 

If you cant wait, then I would consider picking up a couple of R9 390's or something and crossfire them, I think their software support should be up to date.

of course i can wait. I as thinking black friday for the upgrade and till then the manufactoring process will have matured thus higher chance of winning the lottery

I really never recommend SLI or CF because there are some games which scale well and games like Rise of the Tomb Raider DX12 which even ,at the time, only use 1 GPU. So the second GPU is here useless or the game scales so badly that you get maybe only a +5 Fps improvment. Also you get more heat output and you pull more power from the wall. At the moment i would recommend a GTX 1080 or 1070 custom card. When you "really hate"(I don't how to hate a company. I only watch from which of the two i get the best performace for my needs)  Nvidia, you should wait instead for AMD's RX 490 or however it will be called. The i5 6500 won't be a bottenleck.

Yeah Yeah i get it, but i dont like the fact that i will be paying sooo much for feature that i want. I want frame sync, i like the idea of multi-gpu. If nvidia stops taking tax for using its brand, then i will go nvidia. 

 

And look at it form a price point of view: $400 for a evga ftw 1070 and then $800 for a 4k g-sync monitor. that makes it $1200.

Like i can have 2 sapphire Rx480 for $510 and then a freesync 4k monitor for around $500 that makes it $1000. ANd i will be buying this on black friday so it will be cheaper.
