When I get a new MB, how do I uninstall Windows to install Linux?

So I don't wanna blow $85 on Windows, I'm going to install linux when I get a new MB. How do you get rid of Windows off your Hard Drive and replace it with Linux?

Back up the stuff you need to keep and do a new install of Linux nuking everything

If you have already paid for windows on it, why would you re-buy windows? What you got to do is, install the mobo, boot into windows, and its going to tell you to re buy windows or it will auto delete in 30 days. When that happens make sure you have your productkey handy and call Microsoft support.

You can just replace the MB. Windows will work fine, but you'll get a Message that it's not activated.

It wont delete itself, My friend is doing this for 7 months now, without any problems.

Crap happens though. I somtimes it will auto delete, and others you just can't really do much. I think sometimes you wont be able to even change your wallpaper or something, but if you have already paid for Windows you should not have to re buy it. Just contact MicroSoft support and they get it all worked out.

You just loose features after 30 days like updates and so on. You can use any windows key from 7 to 10 to activate windows 10. Even OEM keys work off prebuilts.

if you have a key just install windows then call Microsoft . and tell them you had to replace the MB give them the sob story that the OEM if it was a prebuilt wanted the same price for the part as a new pc is worth .then  here is a hint confuse the Indian tech support people helps if both MB are the same brand like just did it on a x99 board a few days ago both were gigabyte but the board in the pc was x79 so it confused the shit out of them

The PC is an OEM, and the only copy of Windows I have is a Windows 7 Upgrade.

 

I was told on another topic that getting a new Mobo would totally mess up windows and stuff like that. I did find this article, would any of these methods actually work to do a clean install using windows 7 upgrade disc? http://winsupersite.com/article/windows-7/clean-install-windows-7-with-upgrade-media-128512

Some process. download this nifty tool called produkey. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

 

It should give you to product keys. Copy both of them, but the one that is most likely to be right is the one that isn't Internet explorer. When you get your new motherboard, boot into your OS and windows should compalin and then just contact Microsoft with those 2 product keys in mind.
