Am i bottlnecked?

I posted on toms hardware about a problem i have with Arma 3 and my GTX 1080. I get low FPS, roughly 28-40FPS on max settings but my 1080 is around 40% load.

If i play Witcher 3 i get 75% GPU load, Battlefield 4 will max the card if i use 150% resolution.

I got told i am stupid basically and offered me no real help.

If your cpu is a core 2 quad qx9770 then yes you are definitely getting bottlenecked heavily. Upgrade to an i7 and a new motherboard.

By the sound of that you have a CPU bottleneck, which CPU do you have?

Edit: Looking at the other thread, yeah it's a CPU bottleneck. You should probably look into a Skylake i5 or wait to see what Zen ends up being.

You may also need to buy a new cooler depending on which one you currently have, went with an i7 as you mentioned editing in the other thread which can benefit from the extra threads.

i don't know how much it cost in the uk but you should be able to afford a i5 6600k and a good Z170 mother board and some new ram. You should probably ask someone who lives in the uk though.

That motherboard looks nice. Thank you.

I'm a bit stuck on cooling as well i'm not sure if my CPU is overheating at the moment. Trying to get clarification with my other topic.

I'm not entirely sure about the exact specs for the one you currently have but usually if an Intel cpu stays at or below 80 over sustained load you should be fine.

If you want the best from liquid AIO coolers solution go with the 115i from corsair.

IF you are paranoid about leaking the liquid and dont want that go with Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Thanks! perfect mate :)

Actually that fills the 600 mark nicely too.

You can save yourself £20 and get a H100i V2. Just make sure your case supports a 240mm radiator

Needs money for car parts :P

@1Cup1Tea I forgot to mention about the memory RAM. if you will overclock get a higher MHz ram like 3000 but it will cost you a little bit more. if not, is fine what is in the list.

A 500W PSU should be fine. I assumed that PSU you are using is old might be bad. so you might want get a better PSU for not getting suprised by a exploded PC. I recommend the  EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold. More efficient? of course here too expensive
