EVGA GTX 1060 SC

Astino

I watched JayzTwoCents review on it and it looks great, and for $340 CAD on Newegg it looks like a good deal.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the cooler, it's only utilizing one fan. Is that enough for the 1060 cards and everyone else is going a little overboard or cheap by using the same coolers from the 1070 and 1080?

FYI I don't plan on OC myself. I have a 1080p 60Hz monitor, and I play games like GTA V, ARK, Dirt.

Id imagine if EVGA designed it with 1 fan, it will work perfectly fine. Its not like its a super powerful card either remember.

Needs money for car parts :P

here's a Test: http://www.legitreviews.com/nvidia-evga-geforce-gtx-1060-video-card-review_184301/2

60°C during Load, with the Fan only speeding up to 1500~ rpm. That's nice.

But keep in Mind, as the GPU has only 22°C in Idle, the Ambient temperature should be quite "cool", like MAX 20-21°C, but more likely even 17-19 °C.

If your Room temp goes up to 30°C during summer, you will have other temps of course.

The reference cooler is fine. And it's not a matter of everyone else going overboard with custom coolers, that's just how the market works. All the companies make their own coolers so that they actually have selling points over each other, rather than everyone selling the exact same product (the reference card). You can get big coolers for even the most impotent cards. it'll be fine either way.

As for number of fans, the reference cooler doesn't work the same way most aftermarket coolers do. Don't worry about the number of fans, just look at reviews and see what temps it gets. Nvidia's reference blowers are good.

Ya, I saw those but they'll probably be around $400 and at that point I would buy a Gigabyte. I went a head and bought the SC, now just waiting for it to come into stock.

Mind you, EVGA has had great success with this cooler. They used the exact same cooler for the GTX 960 SC as well, which was rated higher at 128W. The GTX 1060 SC is rated at 120W, so the heat output should be marginally lower due to the lowered power consumption.

Also, take note that the non-SC version uses the inferior cooler from a GTX 950.

I have got the GTX 960 SC, and have ordered the GTX 1060 SC from Amazon.

However, I cannot say much about the temps, since I live in a very hot place and my case has got zero intake fans. But I game at a fan RPM of 1750 (very tolerable) and my temps for GPU intensive games sit at around 80C. But I know people with the exact same GPU who hit max temps of 71C under stock settings.

Take note, the 60C mentioned in the review is "false". EVGA has re-done the BIOS for a quieter fan curve and the card hits about 72C under persistent load.

So yeah, as long as you got good airflow, you should see max temps of around 72C for this card at stock settings with the new BIOS, which I think is decent enough.

Don't forget as well, this card comes with one of the highest out-of-box overclocks for a GTX 1060!

My GTX 960 SC overclocks extremely well at the default power/voltage settings. I get 1541MHz core and 7400MHz memory (I can push the memory much higher but leave it here just to be safe).

1060 doesn't have problems with heat

So with only 1 fan it will work just fine.

There are reports of that card working at around 60°C under full load for long period of time.

At low fan rpm.

So yeah ... no problems with heat on GTX 1060 :)
