Defiantly the core i5 because of it's superior performance in gaming, and lower power draw.

Im trying to find out which of the CPUs mentioned in the title i should go with my GTX 970 ACX Superclocked.

 

Also id like answered based on stats/experiences and not whatever product bandwagon you've jumped on. 

 

I play games like CSGO, Rocket league, Overwatch. Nothing really high end like Fallout, skyrim, ect. 

 

So, which one do i choose? AMD FX8370 or Intel i5-6500

deffinetely i5 6500, watch YouTube videos of benchmarks, sometimes the i5 is 20 fps ahead of the AMD CPU

This isn't even a contest, 6500 all the way. The availability of DDR4 alone makes the 6500 the winner.

the Intel i5 will be the better overall CPU to use

 

VR gaming on the other hand work well on the older FX CPUs strangely

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

i5 because the AMD CPU will bottleneck compared to a i5, plus you will get more performance with an i5. I am running a Xeon equivalent to an i5.
