EVGA stuffs are always more expensive than Gigabyte, MSI equivaliences here.

In my place in particular, they are all the same LOL. the ACX is out of stock so IDK, the Gaming X from MSI, the AMP! Extreme from Galax and the G1 from Gigabyte all have the same price. Due to that I end up picking the MSI due to the look

Nvida just launched the Nvidia GTX 1060 for AUD $429 at an event in Melbourne.

Was one of the few lucky enough to get up and close.

Once again a topic about an Nvidia card becomes a circle jerk over AMD, yet somehow Nvidia is the overhyped company...

Quick recap.

The RX 480 isn't as powerful as the hype.

The RX 480 draws more power than its rating.

The RX 480 is out of stock when the promise was it would be easy to find.

So would it be cool if we talked about the 1060? And this question is for the AMD coffee clutch.

On topic I'm more interested in if the 1060 supports SLI.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The AIB maybe, the Reference/FE definitely not.

So we have sort of a paper launch here. Pretty much everything we already know, let see when will the actual benchmark come

Why is it "founders edition crap"?

If you don't want it don't buy it lol.   It's obviously working, otherwise they wouldn't be doing more of it lol.  Last I checked companies/businesses were very profit-oriented :P

In the past they would end up selling a small amount of cards at MSRP and loose money establishing the bottom of the market.  Now they make money (or at least lose less) selling the founders cards, and leave it to the AIBs to set the bottom of the market.  So far it is looking like they get to have their cake and eat it too, because almost no AIBs are actually selling at MSRP.  So they get to design ,what is for all intents a purposes, a $300 card but market it as a $250 card.  Honestly it feels like less of a problem in this price point, the 1080 feels the most scuzzy.  But since they have no competition there, I don't know that it really matters anyway.  And to be clear this nonsense with the 4GB version of the RX 480 is the exact same thing.  New generation means a whole new set of annoying scuzzy marketing mumbo jumbo.

Damn, going to impact the sales not having SLI. What were they thinking... Guess we'll have to wait and see the benchmarks. Was hoping for some news today.

Given the way the abandon 3 and 4 ways SLI, I think they pretty much thinking "You should not SLI more than 2, and should not SLI "weak" card either"

Yeah, I'm kinda going "wut?" at the concept of having a founder's edition premium for a mid-range card.  It's odd because you're not appealing to the same kind of buyer (which is rightfully so, I don't think they should have tried to force SLI into the marketing to make it 'high end').

Because of this, I actually don't expect the 1060 to be as hard to find at the beginning as the 1080/1070.  It's a decent value, but it has competition at the price point.  Could be a win for the consumer depending on how Nvidia stocks the 1060.

I'm having a bit of a hard time believing it'll perform the same as a GTX 980 as NVIDIA is claiming... but if it does perform that well, whoo boy.

It's actually on par for what I expected.  The 1070 = 980 ti (2 tier gap for the gen).  In fact, the RX 480 gives slightly more per dollar, but once you start reaching a certain price point your performance per dollar naturally goes down anyway.  Plus we don't know how it OCs.
