Moved to a new place a few days ago and got the 1Gbps connection here. I was hoping for a better upload but I guess I can't complain too much...

 

Anyone else have a similar connection?

I know, I was expecting something better for that download speed... But with online backups etc it should be better than what I had before (20 upload, 350 download).

You'll probably find they have a symmetrical package for businesses and customers who ask for it. Would expect to pay a lot more for gigabit upload, though.

I used to live in the UK 2005-2012 and the highest speed I got while there was 50Mbps with Virgin Media. What's the best you can get these days?

well the fastest virgin media offers is 300mbps and that's on a business plan. 200mbps on a normal plan.

 

i currently have 74 down and 5 up (shitty upload speed, i know.)

From someone who use 1Mbps/512Kbps Internet for 2 years (upgrade from 512Kbps before that), seeing that speed make me want to cry seeing my perfect networking setup for 1Gbps internet but the internet is still 1Mbps.

 

Just out of curiosity, how much you are paying for the internet? For comparison, I paid $50 for my 1Mbps internet, including SD channel IPTV and free local call.

I have a great internet connection at my desktop in Hong Kong but I'm not there now so I can't get speedtest results.

 

BUT I have like 900MB/s Download and Upload and like a 1-5ms ping.

I am using VPN.ac most of the time it is quite fast... I can watch twitch.tv at medium to high settings. Very rare that I cannot connect to vpn, and also very rare that I can crank up the video quality to source. :]  Well, shouldn't complain though. Coz without vpn... I can't do anything online...

$50 for 1Mbps? Unbelievable! I pay 59 euros for 1Gbps. It's not cheap but in comparison....wow

Elisa! FINLAND! I'm thinking about moving to my GF who lives in Finland, this calms me down about it! :D 

 

Edit: On topic though, where I currently lives we had a 25/25 fiber optics split on 3 apartments, recently got it upgraded to 50/50. Before I lived at another place with my brother where we had 100/100 all for ourselves. But this is still really good. How much are you paying for it though if you don't mind me asking?

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

I get around 800/800 at work but only because of the QoS rate-limiting and the fact that I don't have access to the backbone connection with a laptop that can handle 100Gbps+ speeds, lol.

 

At home I get 350/20 for around $65/month which I'm pretty happy with for now, Google Fiber will be here soon so I'll be joining the 1Gbps club at home soon :)
