480 is much cheaper and the 1070 will give alot more power but i would say go with the 480 it is very good for its price

What do you intend to play and at what resolution fps and settings?

Good question.

I play mostly open world games that take a lot of power, at 1920x1080 resolution. A.k.a Just Cause 3 and GTA V.

The 480 can run almost all games on max settings with 50+ fps but if you dont care about price go with the 1070

Well for 1080p a 1070 is a little overkill, on the other hand the 480 is only around 970 performance and that means it may struggle in newer open world titles that come out when max settings are used, so if you have the money and are willing to spend it I vote 1070, but if you a little tight on money the 480 would still be a fine option for most games.

The RX 480 is about GTX 970 performance, and there already are games that a GTX 970 cannot play at 1080p getting 60 FPS at max settings, including Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Whatever card you buy, I'm sure you'll want it to be delivering top performance for a good while to come, and not just for games that are already released. For this reason, I think you should go for a GTX 1070. And your budget is certainly enough that you aren't in a tight spot to choose between them, and lacking the funds would be the only reason I'd see an RX 480 as being chosen over a GTX 1070 for AAA 1080p gaming.

If you want to be playing AAA games 1080p at 60 FPS with max settings 1+ years from now, then a GTX 1070 is probably your only option.

Well, i'm currently not an average Joe, with his american family, american coffee, american guns, american guns to the guns, american eagles etc.., so i think i'll go with the Camaro's. But hell man, it's gonna be expensive as f, so i don't know.

Let me drop something on you. People with low end graphics cards tend to push low end graphics cards, those with high end graphics cards do the same. Both will validate their position with solid reasoning.

My shit is huge, you want your shit to be huge. There is nothing like a system that crushes everything you throw at it. Could I have saved money? **** yeah. But I was raised that anything that can be driven by a hammer, will never **** with you again if you use a sledge hammer.

But as i know, there's no good titles coming out! No Mans Sky is delayed so often, Watch Dogs 2 is now Jojo melee simulator, Battlefield 1 is gonna remind me of my Vietnam flashbacks, even though it's not the Vietnam war and sport games on the pc is like a fish in a forest. IT JUST DOSENT MATCH.

I´d say you formulated the question in the worst way to get an accurate answer.

1070 is always going to be better choice if you have the money to pay for it.

480 is the choice for those who don't have more than 250 dollars to renew their graphics solution in case they weren't be able to run VR or certain new titles.

I´d place 970 as the real doubt at the moment to buy a 480.

Good title often come out from nowhere. Such as Shovel Knight, Undertale. FOr big title games like Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor etc can also spring out with almost no hype and no one know about it until close to release date.

Sports games? Buy a Vive :3 you gonna sweat like a hell :3
