List of people currently typing replies

alexboz

A list of names of the people currently typing a reply (Similar to the ... shown in applications like iMessage). It's quite frustrating when you type out a long informative reply only to get the new reply notification of the person who found the post first and types faster than you.

I think that might be difficult if not impossible to add.  Plus,

  1. you can just look at the bottom and see which users are on that page.  Assume that they might be replying :P
  2. If this was added, people may just look at a page and see a reply is in progress and move on.  The way it is now everyone adds their own take on it and that usually ends up being better for everyone.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

So it's a race? Who cares. You're replying to be informative whether it's the first post or tenth post. Or do you want to be first so it receives attention from all who enter? The OP from there can select a post as the best answer and it will go to the top anyway.

You're responding in a public topic, not a private message.

You're probably right that people would just move on.

pls no, that just seems scary and often I type a sentence, realize I'm not useful to the topic and leave. I don't want people to tag me and say 'yo minibois you gonna reply or no?!?!?" that just seems scary.

Aren't posts with "First" kinda old thing already? Why would it need to be race. Even if you see someone typing reply, how do you know what they are going to say? So for New builds for example. Maybe 3 others typing at the same time have all completely different ideas on what to change than you. Or in troubleshooting, you found one solution but 2 others have taken some other part of topic in to consideration.
