NVIDIA Prepares Two New Sub-$250 SKUs, Price Cuts

With AMD detailing its Radeon R9 and R7 series, especially at some very attractive sub-$299 price-points for the most part, there are jitters being felt at NVIDIA. The company is expected to unveil one or two new sub-$250 GeForce GTX SKUs around mid-October, 2013. The company is also expected to introduce price-cuts across its entire lineup, to make it competitive with AMD's. NVIDIA could tap into its existing GK104 and GK106 silicons to carve out the two new SKUs ranging between $149.99 and $249.99. The idea here would be to topple Radeon R9 270X. Price-cuts could be directed at the likes of GeForce GTX 760 and GTX 770, to make them competitive with the Radeon R9 280X, while in anticipation of the $599 pricing of the R9 290X, NVIDIA could rethink pricing of its $650 GeForce GTX 780, and $1000 GTX TITAN.

I'd like a 780 price cut... If it goes for around £350 without taxes, I'll buy a second one, otherwise it's very overpriced. I can dream.

$450 780 would be a huge punch against the 290X although I'll wait for AMD to give me Battlefield 4 + three games

I think $500 would be more than enough to make it a nice option if the 290X is up closer to $600. I doubt NVidia would cut prices that much so soon after launch though, I'd expect a drop to $600 to compete directly with the 290X and then the Titan will be the one to get a big cut. They might also start stepping up the availability of 780s with more VRAM so it's a more attractive option for super high resolution gaming.

 

But I could be wrong.

I cannot see Nvidia cutting the price of the $780 below 550, and the Titan below $750. That said, I'd still pick the R9-290X (if priced at $599) because FREE GAMES!!

 

PS: I don't have 600$ to spend on a GPU, so there goes my R9-290X dream out the window :'(

Unless they cut the price of the 670 so I can SLI, I'l probably be upgrading to a 290x anyway.

This! With a heatsink instead of a fan for a home theatre PC... Tho I still love my 430 GT zone edition. With Haswell being more than capable to deliver video at 1080p with quicksync.. Its probably not going to happen.
