Can 533MHz RAM run in a MOBO that supports 1066 to 1600

Assuming its ddr3, then yes. This would be 1066 ram as its double data rate .

though it could work, it is most likely ddr2 ram, judging by the clock speed, and the motherboard is ddr3

I suspect that if the RAM you have is 533 MHz it's DDR1 and will not work with the DDR3 that the i5-2500 requires.

how do you know your ram is 533MHz

533MHz is a indicator the RAM you have is DDR2

 

you cant run DDR2 on a DDR3 board.

 

DDR2 pins are not compatible with DDR3

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

It is ddr3 and is currently running in a ddr3 MOBO and i got the info of the ram in cpu-z
