Best cpu right now for gaming?

47 minutes ago, don_svetlio said:

That used to be the case. but with DX12 and the octa-core consoles devs changed the way they make games. You see, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were single-core machines thus games were coded with 1-2 cores in mind and ported over with 1-2 cores in mind. Now consoles are 8-core machines and things are coded with 8 or more in mind. Just check any modern game like Witcher 3, GTA V, Hitman 2016, Quantum Break, Battlefield 4 and etc.

Also, games see threads and cores as the same thing. They can't make out the difference.

Interesting.  I don't have any of those so I wouldn't be able to check for myself.  (Not that I'd know where to check for that matter.)

I can tell you for a fact that when I play Witcher 3 on my laptop all 8 threads have around 25-30% load on them. It is, indeed, being fully used.

Sorry.  I didn't mean to imply that I don't believe you.  One question though: doesn't that low load indicate that 8 threads aren't needed?

That means that the 750 Ti in my laptop isn't being bottlenecked by the i7. If I had a 980 Ti in here I'd be seeing much higher load as more draw calls would be made to the CPU as I wouldn't be running at 40fps but at 80fps. Look at GTA V - i5s bottleneck high end GPUs in that game.

so, returning to the OP case, which could it be? the cooling only or the psu as well?

Try a different PSU first.

under 50 but it depends , I dont know the prices and although I may buy a cheap one or medium price one, I need it to have the quality necessary to support the system's needs.

For gaming I need to feed my system well.

SeaSonic M12II EVO 520W. Should be around 60-65$, modular and good quality

double-double post ^^

Well, shouldnt we go for more than the current 635w one? the gtx980 states more than 520w.

I also want it to have a window of extra power in case I need to add something, if thats how it should work at least.

GTX 980 spec sheet can kiss my ass. if @byalexandr can OC a R9 290 on a 450W PSU then the 980 would be perfectly fine on 520W. The important part is that the M12II has the +12V rail rated at 500W unlike your current one (which was 235W?)

Your build doesn't seem that bad right now. I guess a 6700k/5820k if you have to.

Nothing.

What was the rest of the system? A 290 needs at least 250w by itself.

Still, the dimensions of the space inside the case just to insert it is around 6 height and 14 width.

I just measured it.

So which one or which ones should I get to support the system with ease?

You can run a 980Ti off of a 600w PSU, 520w is more than enough for a 980.

Needs money for car parts :P

Okay so, how would it fit and be compatible with my system?

I will order it today.

Okay... let''s try... pictures...

Can you get a few pictures up here of your PC.  I really want to see how the PSU is connected to the motherboard and where.... and other things too.  Can you remove the side panel and snap some photos?  No nudes please, it is against the CoC.:P

Izi.

lol,

lets see, I had taken some the other day. But prefer the online ones since they are easier to get, my mobile has issues transfering photos, for some reason but ye, missing drivers for phone.

Anyway, here are the ones I could snapshot and transfer. I had the chance to clean it too afterwards. The big black thing is the slot that the psu gets plugged in

ok...

I only see the 24 pin and the 8 pin.  If those are the only power connectors going to the motherboard, a regular power supply should be fine.  I just wanted to be sure.

Let's find one.
