a.      Hardware

 

b.      Software (serial numbers, license keys, etc)

 

c.      All other equipment, etc

 

4.      List of software used

 

5.      Access/Password list

 

What are some other questions should I ask?

That probably covers most of what you'd want to know. Anything else would probably be more personalized, such as any special needs that anyone has and how flexible the use of certain software/hardware is in case of it needing to be updated or changed out, and what they may be planning to upgrade to in the future. If relations are still on the good side, with the old IT company that they outsourced, I might try and work with them for some of this information, especially if a large percentage of the people you are working for are tech-illiterate. Good luck with the new job!

I would literally make it so that the company are using you, don't push too far ahead of them unless they have a routine, let them direct you, will give you an easier time IMO.

Definitely, acquiring information is important, but don't push them into anything, you are working for them. Do what they ask if possible, and only make strong suggestions yourself when problems will be created if you don't intervene.

Congratulations on your new job.

 

Make sure You know the network topology really well as it will save your (life) job.

Learn how scalable the infrastructure and End User hardware.

 

Ask Them :

1. How up-to-date all the software in the company is. If some software or OS are not up-to-date, ask why. I learn this the hard way. Updating certain software or OS can cause problems (some program doesn't run perfect in W10 but run will on XP or W7, etc).

 

 

Make sure all the information you get is valid and true. check if all the password to access Router, Switch, Firewall, Servers, PC(s),etc are the right one. <---- This one looks insignificant but fatal.
