No. With the RX480 rumored to be launching soon and with the 1070 and 1080's handily beating the crap out of this card, likely someone just trying to dump inventory and break even.  Also, check Shipping as alot of times they will jack up shipping to cover such a low list price and this is a bid auction, not Buy it now so the price will likely climb.

Looks legit. That 980 isn't being sold new anymore, so that's not bad.

But I wouldn't buy one, if you were thinking about it. Get a used 980 ti.

That does make it a bit more enticing, but I still wouldn't. If you play your cards right, you might be able to sell that 980 and get a 980 ti for the same amount.

so its not scam?

probably not.

However, i wouldnt for the life of me buy a 980 now that you can get a NEW 480 for around 199 is simply stupid. Maxwell struggles with DX12, Pascal and GCN cards does not (as far as we can see atm)....

What?

What that means is, I read this entire thread saw the images of product and safely can say that with a cumulative opinion of others that have posted here that these all match why I dislike buying anything from Ebay..

I don't use Ebay parents had too many issues in the past and they keep using it. me on the other hand if I want second hand gear I will stick to reputable computing forums with good administration and careful trade thread policy's, for anything else I will call my parents and say hey I need a replacement battery for this old POS laptop or whatever and they go get me whatever is cheap on Ebay.

Essentially Ebay to me is where I go to temp fix stuff I will probably throw away in a year.

Because apparently 10% below MSRP is good for a used component with no warranty. People are morons, but hey, I sell on the used market often enough to tolerate it.

Although honestly I think it's Linus and crew's fault, what with Junkyard Wars and everything being a huge success. People think going used means they're getting a good deal now.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Yes and no, I don't blame them, I am at least for one opening eyes of some people to show that hardware is not like clothes or food or pets, electronics of this kind are the most over engineered and over scrutinized components in the tech industry just because it ain't new does not mean it does not have 4 -5 good years of solid life in it.

What Linus shows is that you can get absolute bargain deals on hardware that is about be a generation or two behind at the fraction of a cost of when it was new.  Take me for example atm I am on 2011 platform (not 2011-3)  I wanted a six core but it was over $700, could I get an extreme edition for this socket for under $400 now, probably. I used to think it HAD to be new but now I don't care at all as long as the item I am getting is as described and works normally, like atm I am after a second R9 290 just for the hell of it while I wait to see what AMD has on offer, why.... because I can pick it up for under $200 less than the cost of taking a family to the movies, less than a new vacuum cleaner and I will have a sick crossfire build to tie me over until I can save up for a whole new rig.

The only real point you have here is you gotta know what your getting and know it's usual prices before and after discontinuation or at the very least understand that the second a NEW gen of gear rolls out everyone and thier cat is going to be on the internet trying to sell thier rig in parts or whole at close to MSRP while the products are still very much wanted by consumers & usually by people who want an extra boost and save $200 on a new card. I will agree that Ebay usually is way way to high for anything and people will buy it anyway.

The difference between Ebay folk and us here and those like you and me actually understand the IT industry somewhat enough to figure out when is a good time to buy and what's worth the price we scour tech news sites and weigh the options, Ebay people just see numbers :) vs store cost.

Haha, yeah. It's a mixed bag. If you wait long enough good deals come along on the used market. I picked up a 7970 for $75 last year (unmolested), and this year picked up an entire i5/gtx970/ssd/hdd system for $585/shipped. Oddly enough from eBay. Still no idea why that went through so cheap.
