So found this lying about, decided to keep it at least a good year ago. found it again whilst cleaning and im still wandering what it is. I couldn't find anything conclusive online so far. Plz help?

It looks like a ram stick but WTF NO. its 1GB so is it external VRAM or something IDK no idea. looks cool tho

it must be ram there are the CL  numbers (5-5-5@2.1)

Must be  pretty old or cheap if its 1GB and dont mention its advertising NVIDIA well i guess its one way to advertise GPUS

Seems like DDR2 SYS RAM with a Nvidia sticker on it. Similar to what AMD have - their Radeon DDR3 RAM

Back in the days, SLI was new. And "SLI" was used as a marketing to push sales. So gamer would buy them thinking they needed it for SLI capability,but they quickly realized that it made no sense, and paid a hefty premium for profit.

It is DDR2 RAM that was touted with the nForce SLI chipsets for LGA775 and AM2.

 

The whole platform was about SLI as back then NVidia made it exclusive about their nForce chipsets. So literally anything and everything had SLI plastered on it as part of the platform advertising.

 

The nForce boards had kind of XMP like profiles which when 'SLI ready RAM' was detected it would set all the timings & frequencies for you.

There is RAM that will only work on AMD AM2(+) though. Specifically 2GB per rank DDR2 (non-FBDIMM).

Oh great, my ignorance has maybe lost be $21 that I spent on DRR2. I guess I'll find out next week.
