I have a gateway slim pc that runs arma at around 23 fps in wasteland and 18 when running things like task force spartan. I was wondering what the best i can do for my fps is. I have integrated radeon shit graohics or something. Will a new graphics card increase fps alot? If so how much? Im currently running all low graphics and low view distance. Please help me! Id love to get good fps on this game cuz its so good!!!

It's a slim PC, so I'm not sure if you can place one in there. What are its full specs? What size is the case and motherboard?

What CPU do you have? I doubt the fps will go up too much, but maybe..

Arma 3 is probably one of the most CPU bound games ever but it'll probably go up considering what card you get.

As stated above though please tell us specifically what model of prebuilt PC you have and what your budget is so we can help you make that determination.

We have to be able to look up the PC itself to see if the motherboard is a standard size (eg ATX, Micro-ATX, etc) or a proprietary motherboard that can only go in that particular case.

Honestly at this point I'd consider starting new as you don't have a very good base platform.

Firstly you'll need to upgrade your PSU (Power Supply Unit) as that's most likely a shitty OEM brand that won't handle a discrete graphics card and it's most likely proprietary in shape and size as it's a small form factor PC.

What is your budget?

Arma 3 is about the hardest game to run for PC, it requires an absolutely top spec CPU and decent GPU to run it well, my recommendation is always a 6600k and at least a GTX 970 and ideally a top GPU as well so you can reduce the antialias shimmering. Start again, if you replace the GPU its going to immediately bottleneck on the CPU in the 30s and potentially already is bottlenecked on the CPU.

Arma 3 is also heavily CPU bound so you will want a new CPU if you want a better PSU which means getting a new CPU and motherboard. You will need a new case and PSU. Also if you go Skylake which I recommend doing you need new ram too. You are basically going to be building a new PC in order to get a good enjoyable FPS and the only thing you can reuse is going to be the HDD .

Like most others have said, you need a good CPU for Arma. In Arma's case, "good" means strong single threaded performance. More cores do no help Arma unfortunately. You'd be best off with a Skylake CPU of sorts with a high clockspeed. Graphics card wise you really only need a mid range card. So if you were going to wait just a little longer either the upcoming RX 480 or even a board partner 1070 would be a great option.

For $1000 you could build a really good computer. You can buy everything except the GPU now, then when the new midrange cards come out, grab one of those.

Arma 3 is a CPU heavy game indeed, but people haven't mentioned, or maybe don't know, that Arma 3's FPS is actually bound to the server side of the game too. Some servers you'll have alot more fps, than other servers, even if there are more people on the map.
so if the server is running on shitty hardware, it will affect on the end users FPS too.

Main rig:
Mobo: ASRock X99 Extreme3 | CPU: i7-5820k @ 4.3Ghz with Noctua NH-D14 | RAM: HyperX Fury DD4 2133MHz 16GB (4x4GB) | GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition | PSU: Corsair AX760i | Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (White) | Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB, Crucial MX300 525GB, Toshiba 3TB | OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit | Displays: BenQ XL2410T (120Hz) + 1xBenQ G2420HD (60Hz) | Keyboard: CM Storm Rapid I (Brown switches) | Mouse: Roccat Kone XTD | Headset: Sennheiser PC 363D

Wrong, its not tied to the server side of the game, not true never has been. It was true for Arma 2 but I have categorically tested this claim and determined it is utterly false, more importantly Bohemia interactive via Dwarden (the community manager) have confirmed it is not the case. People keep spreading this lie but its never been true.

More players = frame rate loss as do AI and scripts and generally more going on, but its not server FPS causing the issue its client FPS due to the single threaded nature of the game.

I don't think that's right. I have played on a variety of servers some full and some almost empty. I can get more than 60 fps local but going onto server it can really drop even on the lower pop ones. It could have been the scripts but I doubt it.

First build every: Intel Core i7 4790K, Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 motherboard, Kingston HyperX FURY 1866 2x8 16GB Kit, Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 G1 Gaming, Corsair Obsidian 450D Black ATX Mid Tower, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & 3TB Toshiba HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2, Corsair H100i GTX 240mm, Gigabyte Bluetooth 4.0/Wifi Card, Logitech G700S. Running on Windows 10

Surface Pro 3: i5 4300U with 8GB of ram and 256GB SSD. Running Windows 10 Pro

Would dayz standalone be the same way? With 0.60?

DayZ performs a lot better since the exp. branch release of .60.

I have a video of the game running on a Phenom x3 and a 7770.

And here is a fps comparison between 0.59 and 0.60 in Berry

My budget is around 1000 or lower i would prefer someing in the 500s or lower but could go to a thousand.

It's doable for a little over $500 if you pirate Windows. Here is a really strong price to performance build that would allow you to keep your current RAM.

For a couple hundred dollars more you'd have a system perfectly designed for Arma III performance though: a cpu with the highest possible per core performance (which matters most in Arma III) and a very capable gpu (the gpu isn't nearly as important, but this should be a really nice card at a midrange price).
