Basically, when I'm using Chrome, I get redirected to a bunch of ghetto websites. I have ran Malewarebytes multiple times and restarted my PC many times. Malwarebytes usually finds the bad files and "gets rid of them". Neverthless, the same thing keeps happening. Does anybody know a free or at least cheap solution to this issue?

Thanks

Go to the chrome settings and under "At launch" or something like that, and then look for the bottom option and check what pages are in there. You might be able to remove them there.

I'd check you DNS. Make sure you DNS is the same as the other computers in your home. If it's not then outgoing requests to a rigged DNS server could take a request to connect to LinusTechTips.com and respond with the IP address of a dirty website. Or is it ONLY Chrome. My theory would affect every web browser.

Malware can be notoriously hard to get rid of, there's a good chance that Malwarebytes isn't catching it all and that you have some application on your computer that reinstalls it all as soon as you have finished uninstalling it.

Nevermind what I just said..... As soon as i restarted chrome and began using it again it is doing the same thing. I'm getting a 60 day free trial for BullGuard and i will see if that solves it.

Get Spybot from safer networking and "immunize" your host file, also try a few anti-malware programs, not just one!

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Go to that folder, open HOSTS with notepad, If you've never used Spybot or some other software that edit the host file, it should look something like this

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1 localhost
#	::1             localhost

If there's anything else, that might be why.

Also try this anti malware soft, too.

start/run.........type msconfig in the box. you can check the box at the bottom of services to keep from removing ( reselecting ) microsoft goodies.

after this you could uninstall chrome and maybe try a reinstall. i only used chrome once for a minute and decided it was a shit magnet.
