Price of GTX1080 FE (849.-) and GTX1080 Strix (899.-) in Switzerland

Stefan1024

Sooo it doesn't look like the board partner cards are even more expensive than the FE edition. But of course they are, you get a better cooler for your money.

The cards are supposed to ship in "2-3 weeks".

EDIT: For you americans out there: 899 CHF = 903 USD

This is because of the lack of availability. Even the founders edition cards are selling out, what do you think cheaper custom cards will sell like? The FE cards are $1200 AUD in Australia >.<

Yes it looks like rigth. But with polaris there should soon be a better option.

And I will just buy a cheap used GTX980Ti from a poor fanboy that actually belives the 2x performance boost.

Honestly, with a proper 980 Ti you'll get almost the same performance as a 1080 :D

At about the same price, looking at current offers. I don't think it's worth buying previous-gen just to save few bucks.

It is - paying 600$ for an AF 980 Ti is MUCH better than 850$ for a 1080 fanboy edition

In Denmark most AIB cards seems to be around FE price level with some cards being slightly more expensive while some like STRIX being ~25eur cheaper.

Haha, sucks for you guys. 1080 Fanboy Edition only cost $855 here and my 33c climate will definitely show the true potential of that cooler.

Yet 909 CAD = 699 USD

Most European countries just apply tax and import BS

But what doesn't make any sense is that price inflation mentioned by @Djole123 xD, that's fucked up

Generally components in Serbia have screwed up prices :(

Like, a 4790 non K costs more than a 4820K, which just doesn't make any sense.

But when it comes to low end stuff the prices are as expected, there is maybe a 30-40$ difference, but that's OK because of import taxes. But you can't have a 200$ import tax on a single GPU tho :P

At least EVGA SC is $50 cheaper then the FE. Asus Strix at this price point isn't worth it, but it looks like a really solid card - the cooler looks massive for a 180W TDP GPU. I wonder why the mixed their branding and called it ROG Strix... but at least they got rid off the creepy owl look. :D

The question is - Can you make it throttle below stock frequencies in normal use case scenarios?

The "premium" aluminium shroud might have some real usage in such case.
