I didn't know Raptr even existed until the AMD GPU 14 event yesterday. I'm sure the same applies to quite a number of members here as well.

Note: I kind of feel like this should be in General Discussion... oh well.

So what is it exactly? From what I can tell it functions similar to Steam and Origin in that it provides users with an in-game overlay for things such as friends and achievements. What's different here is that Raptr will keep track of what you do in game and reward you with items such as DLCs. These rewards are based on what ranking you achieve in each game, which I presume would be based on how many hours you played. In-game applications allow users to access various websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. without leaving the game. Raptr also has a built in streaming feature (although how effective it is, I am unsure). As far as networks are concerned, Raptr combines players from multiple platforms (PC, XBOX, PSN) into one to provide a (kind of) uniform gaming experience. In addition, Raptr appears to be able to optimize one's game settings in a similar fashion to "one-touch overclocking." The UI brings up a slider with three positions, each with its own "optimized settings" and users simply select which tier of performance they prefer (though I like tweaking the settings on my own, but that's just me).

Personally, the community features and in-game applications are appealing to me. Aside from the initial hiccups with registering accounts and properly recording game data, I think this could be really beneficial to the PC gaming scene. Unfortunately, my work load for this semester is starting to ramp up so I probably won't have much time to play around with Raptr.

I hate when programs are referred to as apps, it drives me insane. Apps are for phones, not computers.

I tried it out, but it doesn't livestream the games I wanted to try streaming with so its kinda useless for me, especially when most of the games I play are free to play games that don't have communications built in.

I used it after Xfire game up with their forums, but tbh i dont bother with it any more.....I have steam, and every one who pc games will no doubt have steam too..its just better that way, instead of having yet another pointless program in my toolbar.

It also allows you to track achievements/trophies and game time across Steam, Live and PSN. Can be pretty handy if you wish to know where all your life has been spent while gaming. (when it works, that is. Raptr was tracking all my game time up until a point, then it stopped. Up until a few days ago, none of my gaming has been tracked for the past 5 or so months)

Apps is short for applications and computers run applications phones and pc are computers so I think you are wrong in your statement. I don't disagree however that marektung people should use better terminoligy.

I was using raptr since it came out with other random program as ''spam'', i have a lot of rewards now :D, it's a cool software, but what I really want is a program that have every single thing in it, sort of if steam had razer comms, access to play origin games, uplay games, a livestream tool, a gamerecording tool, maybe a non cra ppy browser xD and all that stuff.

I've been using raptr for months but livestreaming with it to me is a gimmick. The notifications, rewards, and achievements is where it shines.

App stands for application which is what a program is.

app stands for appliance. When you open an app on your phone, you are opening an appliance. The programming code, drivers, and everything are written into the appliance. This is how a dishwasher works.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

Never heard of it but I'm going to check it out.

App is short for application but this wrong imo because they do kinda have a different meaning. And the difference isn't about what kind of devices its on. The difference is about the function of the program. An app is an application which is focused on doing one task, one use, one functionality.

Every app is an application but not every application is an app.

I completely agree. I have never complained about it before because I didn't want to get any hate but I hate the term apps more than I hate Apple. Mobile can stay far away from the desktop master race (I call it desktop because we won't be using PC's for long but Linux computers).

AMD is supporting it: http://raptr.com/amd so should be interesting. the only part im interested in though is earning rewards for games xD when they mean rewards do they mean like I can get full games or free or what?? As for the  optimization stuff, I always adjust settings myself and always will. No need to have it do it for me.
