Isit bad for components to be powred by 2 jumped psus?

Bajantechnician

Hey guys, so i have 3 390x cards. ibuildnanosits is prob gonna kill me over "polution" lol

My question however, is asking this. Is using a evga gs1050 to power 2 390x cards, while using a ax1500i to power everything else bad for the components?

its jumped green to green, black to black. works completely fine. im just wondering would that reduce the life of the cards and compionents if everything is powered by 2 seperate psus?

Thanks

Also, i didnt know where to put this, so i put it in general. please move it if its in the wrong subforum .

Thanks again

Yep. You must have a radius of 5m between each PSU for them to function properly /s

you're fine. I'd like to see that rig tho

...why do you need 2 psu's? the 1500i should be plenty to power everything, not sure what the rest of your system is but still.

1500w is more than enough for almost every scenario... Unless you are going 7 gamers 1 cpu...

You know that one of those two PSUs can power the whole rig by itself with wattage to spare, right? You don't need two, you aren't even close.

ax1500i = 1300w @ 120v

1500W = 240V

my house is 120v

so max power provided by the 1500i is 1300W

3 390x + 5820k + extra stuff

~900W + 400W + ~200W + ~1500W

I doubt it, but even if it does even a 1200W PSU would be able to power that, plus a CPU and drives. You don't need two 1500W PSUs, it's nonsensical.

There is no way in hell that your system will exceed 1500W, or even 1300W.

Hell, Linus ran TWO CPUs and SEVEN GPUs from 1600W. 3 GPUs and a single X99 CPU is well within the comfort zone of 1300W.

No way a single 5820K will use 400W either.

i'd say 700~800W-ish in games

800~850W-ish in synthetic benchmarks?

I'm running my 5820K (140W) with a 980Ti (250W) on a 850W PSU (full rig specs as Monsuta in sig) that'll do me just fine when I drop in a second 980Ti and put them both under water along with the power draw of all the other parts of my system. (~795W max expected draw according to PCPartPicker). Now if I went to do 3-way 980Ti's, I'd have to jump up to a 1100-1300W PSU for the ~1050W expected draw, but I'm going to be fine as-is.

You're overestimating the power draw of your total system in the long run as it currently is.

How much does 3 390xs draw?

a whole system with 3 390Xs about 1100W (from the wall)

so it would be drawing less than 1000W form the PSU

yeah, 99% sure it will

plug everything into the 1500i, run some stress tests, and if it doesnt shut down then it works fine

you can also monitor the AX1500i power usage in corsair link
