Hey guyz I have embarked on the journey of making a new PC for my younger brother as a gift

Specs finalized upon

I5 6600k(would be oced but not crazy)

Gigabyte/MSI gaming 7 OR

Asus 170 a

MSI/zotac 970

16gb Ripjaws V at 3200Mhz

Case shortlisted

1)nzxt phantom 410

2)CM haf xm(most likely due to sales)

3)corsair 760D/spec alpha

4)circle cc830(for everyone not from India here's the link:

http://www.circlect.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=273)

So I was wondering whether I should opt for air or liquid cooling and please suggest me certain options

Non-OC CPU: Stock cooler or Hyper 212

Mild OC CPU: Hyper 212, Cryorig H7

Heavy OC CPU: Dark Rock Pro 3, NH-D14/D15, H100i GTX, Kraken x61, custom watercooling (not recommended unless you have money to burn)

air or liquid depends on you, i would recommend Dark Rock 3, good balance between reliability, compatibility and cooling performance (although not in the list above)

pick one you like that supports the cooler you pick

or pick a case then only pick a cooler lol

have your brother pick a case :P

also, N450 ;)

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I run an I5 6600k on the Asus Pro Gamming board.
OC to 4.7, with the 212 during an Adia stress testing my cpu never got above 60f.
I picked up an MSI Gaming 4G to fit the ascetics of my case and over clocked it further.
As for case, really that depends a lot on ascetics, IO placement, and the like.

I'd have him pick the case since he will be the one always looking at it.
Assuming you show him a collection of cases to fit the build.

[CPU: 4.7ghz I5 6600k] [MBAsus Z170 Pro G] [RAM: G.Skill 2400 16GB(2x8)]

[GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 970] [PSU: XFX Pro 850W] [Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo]
[Storage: 500GB WD HDD / 128GB SanDisk SSD ] [Case: DeepCool Tessaract]

[Keyboard: AZIO MGK1] [Mouse: Logitech G303] [Monitor: 2 x Acer 23" 1080p IPS]

120 rads are a complete waste of money. There are some really nice 240/280 rads out there, but unless you're planning on really pushing your OC, there's no point.

You've also got three failure points on an AIO (pump, fans, hose) vs. one on air (fan), and an AIO failure can, in rare cases, destroy your entire system, whereas a air cooler failing will just throttle you until you figure out that your fan's not working. AIOs are also louder than quality air coolers, but most 240s cool at least as well as high-end air coolers, sometimes even better.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
