Is wifi Harmful?

Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

Not much but the microwave is, also charging your phone next to you, It produces small radiation but it isn't much of any effects from it because the EMI level is VERY Low

:(

Nope. If it was, it wouldn't be legal to use it in devices.

im pretty sure testing on a few people dosen't reassure 100% that NO one will have sideeffects from it.

Everyone is different :)

But I get your point.

The world health organsition did not test " a few people" so far there has been NO report of any health issues arising from wifi/cell phones etc

Also wifi and most other rf we use for communcation is non-ionizing so it only heats stuff up, not messes with molecules like with gamma radition.

Exactly, and the effect is extremely minor, nothing that could cause damage

Standing in the sun for 10 seconds is probably more damage than 100 years of wifi

Gamma radiation is electromagnetic too.

It's about the energy. All the various radio wavelengths we use for communication carry too little energy to ionize atoms or molecules, so they can do no harm unless the radiation is so intense that the pure heating is harmful. WiFi is extremely far from that intensity, but standing right in front of some powerful radars could be problematic.

To be fair, though, we aren't exposed to nearly as many bananas, nor for as long. We've all been bathed in wifi and mobile data signals almost everywhere we've been for many years now, and that will probably continue or even intensify during the rest of our lives. Decades upon decades of exposure to relatively low-energy but constant radiation can, at some level, cause problems. Even in cases where a somewhat higher dose for a short period wouldn't. Our cells are quite good at repairing radiation damage if they're given breaks from it.

The WHO's statement above is very carefully worded: "no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use." They cannot say conclusively that it is harmless… just that it very likely is harmless, and there's no evidence at this time to suggest otherwise. That evidence could take decades to materialize, if it ever does.

the sun also gives off a ton of radiation, we should all hide in our basements

I didn't say I was personally worried about wifi signals causing damage, I just meant that the banana argument was a poor one.

Besides, more people develop skin cancer per year than all other types of cancer combined. I think the sun is an even poorer argument.

The sun gives off high intensive ionising radiation, its both more intense and more damaging than anything wifi produces. We do have evidence that extensive exposure to the Sun can cause damage (sun burn) and cancer but even then its mostly limited to the surface. We are bathed in radiation continuously, from the Carbon 14 we inhale every day through to the radioactive rocks we stand on. The energy involved in wifi and mobile phones is incredibly low, it can't even burn you if you have the antenna right next to your skin its simply minuscule compared to all the other radiation sources we are exposed to every day.

So when they say there is no evidence they mean it, the effect that these devices cause is so slight compared to everything else you would never be able to show any statistical significance on a massive meta study, it would be in the error margin.

I'd be more worried about the (naturally) radioactive beaches in the US.
