Apple CEO Tim Cook Trash Talks Android

IPCharger

Android is far best. I did see a chart of smart phones being sold in the US, and said to be 20% increase in android sales over iOS. Plus i dont need iTunes to add pictures/music and other media to my phone! Plus iTunes cause problems for other users!

Apple CEO Tim Cook gave critical words about Android in an interview with BusinessWeek. Despite Android now being more popular than iOS, Cooks says he's not just looking at the raw numbers: "when you look at things like customer satisfaction and usage, you see the gap between Android and iOS being huge."

Argumentum ad populum.

I thought you were better than to use logical fallacies like that Tim Cock.

If one were to look at numbers, however, NetMarketShare attributes nearly 55 percent of all mobile traffic to iOS, while Android only made up 28 percent. Tim Cook looks at that stat to suggest that even though there are more Android devices sold, people are using their iPhones and iPads more often.

This has been discussed over and over again by people like Brian Klug from Anandtech. The reason why it seems like iOS devices are being used more is because:

1) A lot of people fake their user agent in browsers.

2) iOS is far more aggressive when it comes to expunging data from the cache. So if you got 5 tabs open in iOS, you might have to reload 3 of them because they have been inactive for a short period of time. Even if you only opened 5 pages it will count as 8 since three of them has been reloaded (and fetched all info again, just as if it was the first time you visited). Android devices which usually has more RAM can keep tabs in the cache longer and will therefore only have to fetch each page once, and will therefore generate 5 views compared to 8 for iOS. Doesn't sound like a lot but the difference becomes huge if you got millions of people using the web browsers.

If anything using iOS (even iOS 7) gives you less features than Gingerbread, or possibly even Froyo, not that itm akes much sense to compare Apple's closed system to Google's semi-open system, iOS 7 was all about finally bringing simple features that were missing from iOS for years and were with android since early versions.

I d rather stick with a older version of android that work on my device rather than be forced to upgrade to a os that is purposely made to slow down older devices in order to sell more new ones, Apple.

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

I doubt that those numbers are even correct. How can someone calculate web traffic to android phones when android is on multiple platforms. If by web traffic, he means the Google nexus stock images, then of course it'll have less. Only power users and devs would access the site. But if those numbers are correct, it's probably attributed to people being confused as to which platform to buy. Only recently has Apple even had any competition. So they go back to the site to check out why they should buy the iPhone instead of automatically going to the store and getting one. Apple is losing in the innovation wars. I mean Apple could've thought of the Active Notification on the Moto X. Who wouldn't want that?

Your user agent includes which OS you are running. Anyway the reason why iOS seem to dominate when you look at web traffic is because:

iPhone has more usage because its users are still figuring it out :P  meanwhile Android users are just getting it done faster B)

More traffic by iPhone, well if you're connected directly to ever NSA backdoor well yea, you browse and do your things on iPhone then NSA is back dooring to see everything you did/are doing, because as they say iPhone is NSA: Ref: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/09/13/quotw_ending_november_13/

That's also one of the joys of Android. You get to be up to date to an extent but you have the ability to root and rom your phone to the newest and greatest.

The Galaxy Nexus is 2 years old and it still gets the latest updates. Normally when a Nexus gets abandoned is because it doesn't have the hardware capabilities to run the new version, and by that time I'm pretty sure you can get a new phone.

The true thing is that Apple is easier to use than Android because its less customizable and has more settings to play around. So thats why customer satisfaction is better in Apple than Android because anyone could just pick it up and be able to use an Apple product imo.

That is what I love about Android. You can change anything. For example, I didn't like the home/apps/back button taking some precious space on my Nexus 4' screen, so I installed a rom called Paranoid Android which has something called PIE that displays the buttons only when you swipe a little bit from the bottom. It's really awesome and now I can't live without it. But as you said, iOS is a lot more user friendly.

I run Android 2.3.3 on a crappy unsupported phone and I'd still rather use my phone over my mom's iPhone 5 that she offered me. Personal preference though.
