Hey guys, need a little help. I am putting together a computer build for a school build contest. I am using the Fractal Design Core 2500 as a case, the AMD FX-9590 processor, and the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. I need a 240mm AIO water cooling system that will fit in the top mounting area of the Core 2500 and be compatible space wise with the motherboard listed. Please help me out.

Why are you using the 9590? Was it required by the contest? And does the H100i work? It fits the case, but no clue if it´ll work with the mobo.

We have $1000 budget, and it was just the highest clocked processor for a budget price. We are not allowed to overclock.

But... Clock speeds mean practically diddly these days...

is its for gaming or video editing or something else?

if your not overclocking go for an air cooler because they are much cheaper and do the job just fine

What do you suggest, I figured sticking with AMD would be the best bet to stay on budget, but I may be wrong. And for specific use, we were not told, so we cant say we are building a gaming rig, or a rig geared towards gaming. We were just told $1000, for a non overclocked, fast beast.

Not a 980, that wouldn't leave me enough to do the rest of the build. I went with a 960

That's not bad at all. But I think the instructor is wanting more storage than that. We are required to use a blue ray drive. And he kinda hinted at us that he doesn't put anything in a build below 750W.

Do you think the 9590 will be fine with a nice air cooler with my current build, or does it really need liquid. I have about 100 dollars to spend with my current list.

ok so 1tb at least? also blu ray is stupid btw its a dead medium. also this build uses 441W of power this psu has an 80+ bronze rating which means it is capable of delivering at least 600W and due to the way psu's are designed it will be more efficient under that amount of load than a 750w psu at like 50% load. there are efficienty curves for psu's. you can say your teacher that came from a german engineering student :D

well for 1000$

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8G9ysY

this is pretty much the most bang for your buck

the xeon is like an i7 4790, just without igpu but you wont need it since you have dedicated gpu

and it cant be overclocked but you wont be overclocking anyway

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

He didn't give us a specific storage minimum. 1tb is just what I went with. And I agree, I wouldn't put a drive in it at all, but it was required.

problem with that is that you have the stock cooler which sucks. also i wouldnt cheap out on the case because building is going to be horrible. im speaking from experience here.

I definitely want a after market cooler, and on a budget, I think amd is the way to go for this contest. Do you think the 9590 will be fine with a nice air cooler, around 100 bucks.

Any other time I would definitely go with Intel, but Amd just feels like the way to go for this.

stock cooler will do the job just fine if he just wants performance, unless the ambient temp is very high

case wise, as long as it fits, it sits, unless the competition also judge by looks or something

good cpu, and gpu

mediocre motherboard, ssd and case

bad psu choice

and the ram might not even work, its best to get vengeance lpx or hyperx for skylake
