How to bypass firewall?

biggiepk

Hi guys.

I'm having some trouble with this. On my college the wifi is very limited. I mean you can only open few websites other ones are blocked by university firewall or something. So i started using vpn and my friends too and i could reach every site no problem. Everything was good until today they blocked vpn services. I mean hola, shield, cyberghost etc... all blocked ( not working now). And again we are on start, i have like 5 websites that i can visit via wifi there. So my question is how can i bypass that now so i could visit normaly every site? What should i do?

you could try to ask the head of the department for the admin password. sometimes they offer that for those that they can verify are over the age of 18.

Just ask them for a white list, if the sites are legit and useful to students there should be no issue clearing a few or even just easing the base line restrictions

The site i can visit is the site of the college, also the hotmail, youtube and microsoft.com. All other sites are blocked. I need this mostly to visit the ebay and see my transactions and shippings and everything there. So it's very important for me that i can visit that site in any given time..

try this search for your term on google (this will not work for anything that requires log ins) click the little arrow under the link and click cashed, and boom :) or go on google translate type in your full http://www. then translate from french to english. :)

Use your phone's mobile data over USB or shared via wifi (root may be required). Or setup teamviewer on your parents/friend's computer, and remote in to that from college. Or rent a VPS from somebody.

I am surprised they allow youtube but not ebay... clearly not a bandwidth reason for blocking various sites. If you get caught circumventing their policies it could go from no wifi usage to some form of academic probation depending on the school.

Or throw the laptop in a bag and head to McDonald's / Starbucks / Panera etc... Unless it's porn / torrenting you're trying to get access to...

I find it extremely hard to believe the internet access is as restricted as much as you are making it out to be. Note I work in an IT department for a University as a Systems Engineer and the only things that are blocked are things you don't need for academic study. The core reason for this is security and protection, you have no idea how much money it costs when even a small amount of services are impacted.

As for asking to get things unblocked, of course you can. You have a course coordinator and a head of department, both of them are your first point of contact if you need anything. If you need it it will be unblocked.

Use of ebay to track personal purchases, well that is personal why should your college even care about that? Use your phone's hot spot feature.

If their firewall is good it will not work.
