Yah Bruh!

Seriously, I have ZERO interest in brand id like bmw/mercedes.  I care mostly about what is offered, and those car makers not going in on the electric car front in the same way tesla is diminishes them imo.  If a freaking kia released something that looked like the model 3 at a similar price, I'd be just as interested in that... well, the Tesla logo looks a hell of a lot better than the kia logo.... but you get my point.

And btw, I don't mean to say that no one will buy ice cars now, but what is the point of buying a bmw 3 series over a model 3?  the bmw brand?  It looks worse, it performs worse, it's ICE and so has higher and more frequent maintenance, what is the draw exactly?  Faster fill ups?  That's it?    The point here is that the model 3 is essentially a better alternative at the 35k price point to just about anything else in the class.

The current state of infrastrucutre. For example, there are no superchargers in Romania yet. There are plans in the future, but right now there still is a lot of work to be done in that regard.

Front kinda reminds me of a Porsche. I personally like the screen much more than the Tesla S, that thing had a hideous dash with that overly long vertical screen.

I think this is the first Tesla i'd actually consider. At $60k AUD I think there are a lot more compelling options though.

Love the design language! Now if Tesla would only release an electric motorcycle, I would definitely jump on the Tesla bandwagon. :x Nonetheless, this car will signal the dominance of Tesla or its failure. Can't wait to see what happens!

Oh you euros/fureners are totally screwed as far as availability goes for the next couple years at LEAST.  The only Euros that will have them are the ones that are well to do enough to have someone order from the states and directly ship the car to their mansion in London or whatever the Romanian equivalent is.

Zero makes some great electric motorcycles. Similar in style to a Yamaha FZ-09/07 (BT-09/07)

http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/

I closely follow Tesla and love what they're doing, as they're light years ahead of any other car manufacture in terms of technology or even design. I love the tech, design and style of the Model 3 and really all the other Models. I would certainly buy one if I was richer, but I'm fine for the time being. I'd rather get an electric motorcycle for a third of the price with similar range, but that's just me who is more of a motorcycle guy than a car one.

I'm totally onboard with the design, except the dashboard. I have no problem with the centre tablet in the dash - but I do have a problem with the lack of normal dashboard gauges in front of the driver.

I drove a Toyota Yaris a few times that had the "centre dash" concept, and I absolutely hated it. It's terrible driving design. I have to look to my right, away from where I'm driving to see my current speed, etc.

Now, if this thing also had a HUD on the windshield, then I'd be totally fine with no driver-side dash.

The interior is obviously unfinished, they pretty much already said this was just the prototype. It's nice to know what to expect form this car though, however and it is the car I plan on buying after college unless Mazda pulles off something to change my mind.

Assuming the Dashboard config is not finalized, then my concerns are a lot less about the new design.

It looks a little bulbous at the back, looks pretty unexciting to me TBH. Though most new cars look either unexciting or just plain ugly these days.

They are not very practical for anyone who doesn't have off road parking where they can charge it, which is a fairly sizeable proportion of city dwellers in Europe, and from what I've seen of it, New York too. And sooner or later the environmental impact of the batteries will become an issue. Unless there is a huge leap forward in battery tech, not just in terms of their capacity and recharge time, but in the sustainability of their production, my bet would be that the future is hydrogen, not battery.

Yeah this (and any plug-in Electric) is NOT for people who live in Apartment Buildings or have to park on the street.

To own an electric car, you basically have to have your own driveway with an exterior outlet.

But that's still (tens or even hundrends of) millions of people who could take advantage of this car.

Not in cities, not in the UK where a large chunk of the housing stock pre-dates the horseless carriage. They still build houses and flats without off road parking, at least they do in Bristol & Bath. Off road parking is a especially rare in London, the city that needs electric cars most.

Are the pre-orders US only? They've apparently surpassed 200k orders already, I'd be curious to know where they came from.

Given that Norway has by far the most Electric vehicles per capita (worldwide), I'd imagine they'd be pretty eager to get orders out to Europe pretty quickly. Norway in particular will be all over the Model 3, especially with "EV incentives" set to lessen in 2018.

I really hope there is an optional option for a dashboard behind the wheel...

Still too expensive here in Denmark since we have 150 % tax on petrol/diesel cars and lower tax on electric, but it rises every year, so by the time the cars is coming here the tax is going be 65 % and 25 % VAT..sigh :/

BUT! I believe Tesla will push the industry forward and at some point we will see more and more electric cars. It will take some decades for them to surpass regular cars (especially here in Denmark since cars are so freaking expensive), but I'm excited for the future of automobiles :)

Yeah, they are still pretty niche cars. But I'm someone who drives about twice a week, and my longest commute is well under 200 miles.

Pre-orders were for anywhere near a Tesla center. I assume that Europe has majority of pre-orders. You can order online but your put at the bottom of the list, while people who went to a store get priority.

I wonder what the price will end up in most parts of Europe. I reckon ~40.000-45.000 Euros before tax incentives depending on the country.

Cheers for the info. I just had a look at their website, noticed I can "reserve" in the UK for £1000. No mention of regional availability, or pricing though.

I suspect that will hurt the non-US pre-orders tbh. But, people seem to be extremely excited about this car, 200k in 24 hours is insane.

What do you guys think of this? I photoshopped a picture of the car even though I think the car looks good already, I just think it looks a little weird without a grill or a black piece. Even though my photoshopped photo makes the car look like a Ford Focus but it's still inline with the design of the original Tesla Roadsters right, also making it look better?

From what I understand Tesla will deliver the car if your not immediately available to pick it up at a Tesla Center (they may or may not charge you for the delivery). The 3 will be available to anywhere you can buy a S or X.

I think its fine w/o the grill. It's not there to maximize range. They might offer a fake grill option like is standard on the S. (The S grill is just black smooth plastic)
